i just bought my first hpi BAJA 5B last Friday. I was a nitro guy in the past. its an older model that is all aluminum parts its decent shape. looking forward to learning a few things from your channel.

YES! i just lent our loaner to a nitro buddy. and he's hooked. HA. i bet it has to do with turning it on pulling the cord and going with out tuning. you'll love it. PLUS.. its a bit quieter than nitro which can be a bonus.

Looks awesome so far and cant wait to see some videos of this new beast... the g320 is hands down the best motor I've ever had in my Baja's. i would never go with anything else.. I run mine with the ss pipe and a silencer cobbled on the back of that so I don't go deaf.. lol

I need some DDM! Being a 5th scale fan in Australia parts aren’t always available. I’ve handmade a lot of custom aluminium parts, engine support brackets and mounts, air filter adaptors and that silly little plastic clutch piece that’s holds the clutch/motor to the brake assembly but now DDM makes all of those parts are they look wicked! I’m loving the new solid one piece clutch bell cover with integrated bracket to the brake assembly. What a time to be alive hahaha so much awesome! What is that pipe made of? Looks like mild steel? Ive found it’s all about carby tuning with these pipes, make sure to check pop off pressure of the metering valve spring to ensure you are getting enough fuel at full noise. and possibly change the diaphragm to K3-WYTA walbro spiral diaphragm. It maintains pressure a lot better for a more consistent delivery of fuel and as a bonus it doesn’t dry out and get wrinkles and flood your engine! The engine seems to return to idle faster also. Yeew!

Been waiting for this video!! That's the same motor I am gonna throw in mine!!! But probably with just the stock exhaust to reduce the initial build cost! Can't wait to see how it goes!!! What throttle and steering servos do you recommend on a budget?

Are there any pipes that tune down the torque? Or mod an existing pipe so the torque isn't diff destroying?

@aaron88912 жыл бұрын
Do you have a link to the 5t exhaust you mentioned? I'm not a big fan of the side exhaust.
I think you will like the extra power. The stock can is fine to learn but for bigger smiles you cant go wrong with more power. Need it to keep up with sbg somewhat. Might even be able to gear up a couple teeth to 19/55 to bog down the torque and obviously more speed.

What ever happened to Hostile tires? I spoke to Steve i think at DDM and he said someone broke the mould machine that makes the tires?....... I guess it never got fixed as I've not seen Hostile tires for a good few years?
@kpopRC Жыл бұрын
yeah not sure. it'll take some investment to bring back the us manufacturing. i think most guys have been burned super hard by clones companies. they just don't want the risk of getting put out of business.
@Nickwillfixit2 жыл бұрын
Yeah bring on the fun. I do hope that 5th scale is coming back, maybe bringing back the 5B will make it happen. I run that pipe on both my HPI Baja's 5SC has the OBR Widowmaker 38cc the 5B has the BZM 38-5cc T (Torque Tune) and it really woke up the BZM engine but not a lot on the OBR engine it seemed the same as the Dominator pipe. I run the Pro-Line Badlands at the rear and the HPI Shortcourse 5SC front tyres on the 5B, these I also use front and rear on the 5SC the wider on the rear narrow front or the Hostile Motocross tyres. Mind I have a hell of a choice in tyres I have around twenty sets of four in just about every type of tyre made as I run a LOSI 5ive-T, two Krakens and two Baja's along with MCD, FG and a Traxxas gas buggy in parts waiting on parts.
@kpopRC2 жыл бұрын
same! we're swimming in tires! Sounds like you have a couple of BEASTS there! maybe we'll love the pipe.. i guess time will tell.

I've got a Zenoah G320 rc engine in my HPI Baja TSK-B kraken. With a DDM Fast Pipe i was getting 50 mph top speed but I was too loud so I changed it to a TSK-B Olimat Silenced pipe and no matter how much I tune it there's excess oil passing out of the exhaust? My mix is 25/1 using Castrol XR77 fully synthetic oil. Any ideas as to whats happening or what I can do to stop the excess oil? I didn't do this with the DDM Fast Pipe?..... Thanks
@kpopRC Жыл бұрын
not sure. but i'd rather it be oily. at least you know everything is lubed up. Mine spits a ton of oil too. maybe this is because it's a much larger displacement. more oil and fuel getting sucked in there.
