The DX pianos are sampled, but they are VERY good! There was only so much time so we couldn't cover everything but there are lots of FM pianos in the CP4.

Wonderful demo. Does anyone who owns this piano get a weird sounding overtone like an irritating ringing sound when you strike the C#2, D2, & D#2 keys when using the S6 piano. I think it's a bad sample and it is on all the CP4s & the Yamaha MOXF S6 piano as well. Please let me know if anyone hears this.

Sounds impressive. How does a Yamaha stage piano compared to a similar stage piano from Roland? Such as a V-Piano for instance? Is Roland overpriced? Anybody got any opinion?
@Wistbacka10 жыл бұрын
Yamaha is the overpriced brand. I love Yamahas, but when comparing them to their rivals you usually get the same quality for less money. Usually others also have more features for the buck.

How is this piano compared to Roland RD-800?
@JohnJanssensDeVarebeke10 жыл бұрын
Much better action than the RD-800 IMO. Wooden keys as well; sweet! It was going to be the Nord Piano or the CP4, and I chose the CP4, slightly more affordable.

tartan11463 SOLD ROLAND RD..the middle c of the keyboard is flat as h&%$#$%ll! I lost money big time on that one. The ep piano's are great and some sweet guitar sounds but hell...o I'm a piano player.. You can not fix RD. Roland piano's even if you stuffed a Steinway in its aspiring!!!! The Moxf s6 piano's did not catch me, but then thats a workstation. The best is the Cp4 save money don't buy cp1 because its not enough difference between the 2..# jazzy ascanb123
@johnalfieri16139 жыл бұрын
Beats the Roland in the action{ LOVE the action ! } AP sounds are better. Took a lot of work to get the RD to sound less muddy or processed. Hard to explain. User friendliness, the CP4 wins there too. Very easy to get to everything in a split second when on stage. All sounds are easily edited. once you get the routine down. There are a few steps but then it becomes second nature and you really tweak every sound to your liking and save for performance mode. Love the compression button for extra punch when I need to cut through the band. The casing is not as sleek or as sturdy as the Mp7 but it looks nice, and it is light. I have had it for a year and gigged almost every weekend with NO issues of any kind. Only compliments on the quality of sound. My point is, that it is road worthy by all means. Just get a decent case. I padded my Gator case which was sturdy all around except on top. Just Velcro'd 3 strips of sound proof foam {sponge } in the case to protect the top of the piano. Works great !

USB Audio Recorder? If no, so I say thank you, but NO. Your competitors have one, as well as 256-note polyphony and less price.

am I the only person who prefers the P255 action? I know the CP4 has real wooden keys but they feel kind of flimsy to me... it's harder for me to control them with precision in classical pieces. thing is, I'd much rather buy a CP4 because the piano sound is better, and I love the electric pianos, synth leads, etc, and the P255 only has a few basic sounds. every pianist I've ever met in my life prefers the CP4 and I just don't get it... the P255 just feels so much nicer to my hands...
@kraftmusic8 жыл бұрын
You might consider the Yamaha CP40. It's got the same key action as the P255 but is more closely related to the CP4. It doesn't have as many sounds or features, but you might find that it's a good compromise that is well suited to your preferences. -Ben x4052

This keyboard is a turn backwards. Does not have samples for each 88 keys instead it uses sample stretching to create the missing notes. Uses looping to make a sound last, does not have sympathetic string resonnance, is too bright in sound. is cheaply built.
@Mooncalf201211 жыл бұрын
If Yamaha can model authentic 'Electric' piano sounds, why can't they make decent and expressive, FM/DX sounds in their products, (without an expensive add-on board ala S90)? I would consider the DX electric pianos an essential sound in a stage piano that mimics everything else, especially with the name Yamaha on the front. Is Yamaha ashamed of their roots?

I bought this keyboard last year and I absolutely hate it. I can't quite put into words the total disappointment... and what a fool I was to rush into buying it! This truly is an awful excuse of a keyboard. As other people have commented previously, the sounds are totally lifeless and I don't know how I managed to convince myself at the time that it was gonna be a game-changer. If you are new to keyboard playing you may think it's excellent, but it isn't. I rank it somewhere between dreadful and abysmal.... In my opinion it's best used for playing background restaurant Jazz. (I notice all the Yamaha demonstrators on KZbin also seem to elect to play exactly that style on the C4 piano presets) There is a useful half-decent double-bass preset, but all the other sounds are far from ground-breaking. In fact they are dreadfully dull. It's a horrible keyboard to play and don't be fooled by the demos. I'm speaking as a forty year old musician that has been playing keyboards all my life. Yamaha - your clavinovas of the late 90's were more fun to play than this so-called best digital stage-piano Yamaha has ever produced!! What a load of cobblers! I am selling mine if anyone wants it? Based in Essex.

@yeahuri47245 жыл бұрын
Let me get it right. You're complaining about style is it? If yes you are getting into the wrong category I believe. This is a portable stage piano/synthesizer meant to play with other performers (from my perspective). It give you all sort of abilities and effects to shape your sound while you play in a band or in a pro studio recording. If you still consider Yamaha's product, you might as well check out some of their new Clavinovas as you mentioned. Or the NP series for portability.Also, do ask the sales guy for advice and tell them exactly what you want before purchase something so pricy. Hope it helps.
