So dig... This episode was amazing and exceeded my expectations. I saw the title and since the episode was featuring comedians, I thought perhaps there was a topic introduced, in this case about family beef, followed by rapid fire jokes for the bulk of the conversation. But it was so refreshing to see the more personal, human side of these creatives. It was dope to peep how much courage it took to be that vulnerable. And the moderator did her thing in guiding the flow in a real way while also allowing space for humor. And Kraig? His psychological analysis was impeccably on point and delightfully stimulated my mind. Great convo, y'all, more like these please and thank you!! 🎉🙏🏽👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾❤🖤💚👑✊🏾🤗🤎

My mom did that thing where she just kicked me out a month after I turned 18. Top 25% of my class, introvert, all-around good kid. But she just assumed I was lazy didn’t even try to help me in my next stage of life. I was fine letting it go, but she wanted to talk about it recently after about eight years and that was the worst thing she could’ve done because I just realize she is a p.o.s. human who was just ready to get rid of me. I’m at such a disadvantage compared to other family members.

This was absolutely a great conversation this week. I feel like more black people should have open and honest discussions like this about our mental health and family traumas. I also wish that families in general would stop covering up and protecting known abusers. I was abused in every way possible by my half-sister from ages 5 to 12, and because my abuser is a female (I'm also a female), my other family members don't express much outrage as they maybe would if I was abused by a male member of the family. They tell me, "she's still family," or "you need to let it go," and they'd still invite her into their homes even though she admitted to abusing me all those years to everyone on that side of the family. As I've gotten older, I've come to find out that she has also abused 3 other children, with two of them being my cousins who are also around my age.

I love all of your transparency and honesty. It’s not easy. Almost all of my uncles on my moms side are like that. I don’t talk to anyone on that side. Everyone always made me feel crazy when I asked why do we have to see them during the holidays, why do they come over the house? A couple of years ago I finally told one of them off and it felt so good to say why I hate them after all these years. This was therapeutic to watch.

As a parent myself I don't fool up with family beef and simply don't get involved with negativity because in my childhood it's like we were born into the drama and kids feel that frfr💯 our parents/ guardians/ elders would say and do whatever and figured we were clueless about stuff that went on🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️naaahh we knew but we were taught to be "respectful" and had to "stay in a child's place" but the trauma be real💯 like I struggle with showing affection and trusting ppl to this day... I'm growing out of it but it's still affects me and my siblings as well 💯

My 1st cousin attempted to break into my dad's house, so my dad shot him in the hand when he saw it come through his glass window. He's been sending threats to my dad through whispers in the streets. Crazy thing is this same cousin's brother, my other 1st cousin, broke into my house and robbed me blind years ago... like my Uncle's kids are built different. I just want to the fade, but my family tells me to chill because I'll take it too far, but I'm like nah, I'm about to take it to where it needs to be. Am I the one that needs to chill??
