Kraken! Hope you're well. I came back to this video specifically to thank you again for your aid in helping me embrace my rampant altoholism. I stumbled upon a method of leveling that's brought me a lot of WoW joy in the last few months! It's hardly revolutionary, but has made a huge difference in my playtime. I love creating and leveling new alts, but not necessarily hitting max level with them. (Thank goodness we can stick them into cryo-sleep at 50!) Step 1 of my discovery was...leveling without BoA gear. Part of the reason I was getting bored with my favorite ingame activity was that it was going too quickly, haha. I wasn't focusing on the fun in the journey, and since I never intended to hit max level with those new alts, I didn't really have ANY goals at all for any of them, which made the whole process feel aimless. I didn't even make a new alt to try it without heirlooms; I gradually replaced BoAs while questing on an existing lowbie, and weirdly got more excited to play her as her progress slowed down. Step 2 was avoiding flying mounts. I figured I'd get frustrated and quickly start using them again...and was 100% wrong. Staying grounded - even in Cata zones! - has made each location feel more alive and dangerous. Since Step 1 was "Ignore leveling speed", the slower pace didn't bother me a bit. I've seen all kinds of beautiful scenery from fresh angles, simply because I wasn't flying over the top of everything trying to hustle from point A to point B. *ETA*...I was also pretty sad when ground mounts became "useless" at the very low level of 30, so it's also felt nice to enjoy the bulk of my mount collection for longer periods of time! Step 3 was keeping some RP going in my head. Where'd this character come from? What's he fighting for? Who is she protecting? What's something he's excited about? A few basic questions helped figure out some destination goals, like which expansion to level in, which talents to pick, which transmog feels right. My current alt is Yet Another Arms Warrior (love those), and it gets dull to use the exact same build repeatedly. This one's a Zandalari troll who likes to make things bleed, so her talent and ability aims are bleeds and mastery. She rarely uses Execute; it's more fun to let enemies drain out as long as possible. She's a little scary. >.> I think that covers the method fairly well. The results have been that I can make a new character, do a bit of brainstorming on its RP angle to decide where to level - usually there's just one zone as a primary target, though it may take a bit to reach initially - and strike out on a new adventure. What's beautiful about it is that, so far, I've managed to level several alts to at least 50 (safe-delete range!) in just TWO ZONES. (Not "Vanilla" zones, they're often a bit smaller. But any expansion afterward seems to work that way.) One alt. Basically Loremaster-ing two zones. Delete, repeat, two new zones. I don't know how many times I can do this before I've seen the entire game again, but as I've said, I'm greatly enjoying WoW again, and my altohol-ism is extremely satisfied. Instead of hopping around between characters, trying to figure out what I feel like playing, I'm eagerly logging into the same one each time until their personal story seems complete. I'm still doing some gold-grinding on my 70s to get a token every month, but decided that that was no longer a goal. I can easily get a token every other month with the most bare-bones weekly completions on my main (another arms warrior!), and ~$7/month is nothing for the amount of fun I'm having. So thank you once more, miss Latte, for encouraging me to ditch alleged efficiency in favor of fun. It still feels dumb that it's taken me so long to figure that out, but there's no sense lamenting time lost. My Zandalari sanguimancer is nearing the end of her blood-soaked rampage through Nazmir, and I'm looking forward to making my next character!

Thank you so much for sharing your perspective on how you plan and how you play, especially the part about if you feel like doing something... you do it ! I can get lost if my lists and plans and checklists, sometimes I forget I can just do whatever I feel like. It is a game, and we're allowed to get immersed in the story, the mog, the world, the exploration, the challenge...whatever is drawing our attention. And that's okay! I'm excited to again earn that Weekly Chest of Disappointment by doing solo content, and was highly amused that even Blizzard referred to it that way during BlizzCon 😅 Hopefully Delves will be amazing. Your content is often perfect for me because I too avoid dungeons and LFR for the most part, though I'll run everything once to complete quests if I have any. I personally avoid burnout by...playing other games for a day or two. I used to feel like I HAD to play WoW if my sub was active, or I was wasting money; but especially now that I'm paying with gold anyway, it seems silly to burn myself out over a weird idea of saving a couple dollars. WoW's only purpose is entertainment; if it doesn't entertain me, I shouldn't even log in. Duh. Yes, I've been an adult for a long time now, and am still figuring all these simple things out. 😂

I'm definitely in the grind period now - trying to knock out DF achievements and collectibles as I can. I got my "main" alts to max but the way they redid the crafting system makes me feel like I'm too behind to catch up, since you need to collect the weekly points for the specializations. Def looking forward to your updated DF take on planning!

Not going to lie, I got burned out trying to catch up in Dragon Flight, I think it was last year and I quit for good. No intention of going back to WoW. But I still enjoy watching content on the game, ironically, I haven't had the itch to go back and play since I quit, which I usually do.

See now this would be perfect if I didn't have the desire to sneak other games in. I generally end up coming back a couple expansions later to blast through all content to grab whatever I didn't at the time it was new. Thankfully I don't have altoholism. I always think about other classes but always fall back on my paladin and mage. The introduction of warbands is going to be great for all of this, though.

I used to try and do it while it was current, but it just takes SO LONG to do it that way when loot isn't guaranteed and doing the raids themselves can take awhile. So, I just wait until they're both soloable and set to legacy loot by Blizzard (meaning you'll always get loot). THAT SAID! We have been able to get some sets via the Catalyst now with open world gear, so if I see a set I REALLY want, I'll get it that way and wait to solo the rest in the future.

Is there a method you recommend for squeezing in collecting in and/or being a completionist old world content? I finally settled on a main (yes, I'm slow, shush) and now I have the daunting task of going through all of the old world content and getting through as many quests and scenarios as possible, as well as collecting mount, pets, and mog from everywhere. I know you went through this effort toward the end of Shadowlands and I'm hoping you have some words of wisdom to go about it. Thank you for all of you terrific content!!!

If they kept up their idea of older content being soloable I would be having so much fun, I could run BFA raids for months to grab all that transmog but so much of it is still horrid for solo players, the numbers are fine but the mechanics just wipe. Currently I want to go back and figure out some effective way to farm the anima/covenant stuff I missed out in shadowlands but the ways to gain anima seem horrible for the tens or hundreds of thousands we need for recolors and the like

Interesting. I tend to basicly start of by leveling my main. My Shaman. So i have mail armor sets done and ready. Then i level 1 of each armor types. So i level next my plate user, which is my Warrior. Because my shaman main has enchanting and jewelcrafting. I have my warrior as a miner and Blacksmith. I need the ore from him to my shaman. But also geting ready for lfr to get the plate gear mogs. Next. My leather user, being my Demon hunter, that has Alchemy. So herbalism and alchemy done. And leather sets. After that is my last alt, my Shadow Priest. That has tailoring and enchanting. Got to send that damn tailoring cloth mats i dont have any use for. Then i basicly have 1 of each armor types. Cloth, leather, mail and plate. After that it all depends on what time i have. And who i feel like leveling next. I usualy use the Timewalking events to level alts, one after another. maybe 2-3 of the each time walking event. ... i have 26 alts rightt now. At max. Not really something i level because i must. But its fun. Makes it easier when you want to collect armor sets. Since that becomes. At least for me right now. 5 mail users. Since i can only have 1 evoker on my main server. Right now at least. 6 plate users, 8 leather users and 6 cloth users. On my main server. But i also have 1 extra max level paladin i leveled on a friends server. Becuase he was badgering me about leveling an alliance toon on that server. And that is basicly that. I dont do much content otherwise on my alts. As i skip all of that. Just focusing on doing lfr, collecting mogs. Maybe some mats here and there. Weekly stuff. Like the Superbloom and the aiding the dream walkers weekly for the gear. And mogs. Got my shaman to renown 11 for dreamwalkers. So now i can chill with the alts for the aiding the dreamwalkers 1500 rep quest. Just doing the seeds enough for the weekly. Not doing the full 5 seeds if i can avoid it. Since that is another weekly for the mog gear. And in general just chill.And since much of my time spent in wow i just waiting. I play my playstation whille i wait. And its worth it. Since when you have multiple alts. Collecting mog sets is so much easier. Especialy the current stuff. Imagin playing 1 character. And you want to collect the lfr armor set. Will be a pain. But if you had 2 mail users.. easier. Since the currrency you use for upgrades.. Will not be overloading that 1 character. but spread to all those that can get the gear. So for me 5 alts that can get mail gear. Makes everything so much easier.... But now i still need to go back and do some of the older raids. Like Vault of the incarnates to get some of the missing gear i didnt manage to get. Becuase i didnt have enough chracters.

I always have the intention of doing that, but generally don't! Level my "main" first, then the crafters, then whichever I feel like! All the armor choices for Transmog are cover multiple times too. IDK, sometimes WoW though hit s a "I don't want to play this" feeling (having it now!). So I go play something else until I'm ready to play again. Thanks for such a detailed, focused plan!

@@DaMcGamer Its something. hehehe. Its just a simple way to start. At least for me. Then what else you do is up to you. It just basicly became that way. Hell. At the start of Dragonflight i had only 1 set of alts. 1 of each class. Then i leveled some of them as an extra, to make mog farming easier. But also for the timewalking events. REmember since i was sending the Boa tokens from Forbiden reach around to them so they could start doing aberrus i think. But it basicly takes time to do. Leveling them by questing.. Boring. Leveling by doing dungeons.. Boring. Doing timewalking. ooof. That is FAST. And gives you like... 60% of your level. More or less. And then 30% the last 2 levels. But in general. You level them when you have time. And when stuff start to hapen. You have them all done. Then as time goes on. You get the armor sets. You have 1 less alt to play on for the time. Making lfr much faster each week. Unless you want gold. That is also a good way to have many alts. Because of the Great vault tokens you get if you dont want any loot. 6 tokens for 1 row. Not sure if you get more for 2 rows of stuff filled up. But basicly, 6 tokens, you can buy gold from the vendor. You get 1000 gold for 2 tokens, so basicly 3 k gold per char. per week. You do that.. As well as the 1000 anima quest from shadowlands. Bam. you are rolling in gold. Another reason alts are very nice to level. Some easy gold making, passive stuff. Like with the old garrison. You log in. SEnd stuff on missions. Done. But for that one, you need to do a leveling trick to get troops at 60, and if you mess up. You cant do it. And would need to level things the slow way. Its basicly. THe troops that you add to your mission, to do it easier. Not the champion, follower that you ... soulbind with. The extra guys you send with the soulbind. Trick is. You have boa exp items that you can use to boost your soulbind level. The troops have a median level of your soulbind characters combined. Which means. You can ONLY unlock 1 soulbind, then you need to level that one to 60. Which makes the troops 60. Then you can go and unlock the other champions. And the level wont drop. Troops max level. And they make things much easier.

Any tips on how to grind the stuff that are in the elite area of the zones? Like it's still hard to solo rares in .1 patch zones with .2 patch gear but by the time you get to the grind year the .0 and .1 zones would be empty?

Its interesting to see that people play like this.... Spending 3 years simply just doing open world content is crazy to me..... Based on priorities i guess.. to my open world content is terrible.... very boring.. repetitive... unrewarding... Im basically done with Wow 2 - 3 weeks after a expansion drops... If I had to spend any more then 5 - 10 hours TOTAL doing open world content I wouldnt survive lol

Everyone has/gets their own enjoyment out of a game, at least I hope they enjoy it. Players like you, the content devourer's, have different focus, and that's fine. But your style of play is great for a one off RPG, not for the health and longevity of an MMO. People that like to RP, PvP, old content, etc., are what keeps a game going.
