Kramer guitars Assault 220 review / my first time playing a Kramer

Over all the years of playing guitar one brand I have never played or owned is a Kramer heck I've never even picked one up. In this video I check out a Kramer Assault 220. I was all in all pretty surprised with my first experience with Kramer guitars.

I had this guitar for years, and I have a ton of guitars and let me tell you I love this axe. And for me what I love about it most is that it stays in tune! I have much higher end guitars that don't stay in tune as well, just my experience.

Kramer made a deal with Floyd Rose because Kramer was the first guitar company to have Floyd Rose as stock

I have this Guitar for almost Two Years.. And did some Modifications to it.. Blocked Floyd, Installed Two Red EMG 81 in Bridge and Neck Position and i Absolutely Love the Look of the Guitar Now. One of my Favorite Shred Axes. 🙉

I have a white 220. I think, for the money, it's a pretty good guitar. Whatever the markings, it's a Floyd. LP style single cut, 24 fret, 25.5 inch scale length, Ebony fretboard. Stays in tune. What's not to like? Well, maybe the shape of the headstock. Looks kinda like a bottle opener. 😀 Oh well...

I've owned one for almost 2yrs, got a good deal on it brand new and like it alot plus the red/black finish matches my Gibson Les Paul Red Widow perfectly....and Floyd Rose makes the bridges for Kramer just like they did in the '80's thats why they don't have a license mark on them...

I have this guitar and got it new, I evenly traded a PRS SE Singlecut I got a for a steal as I wanted another singlecut, 24 fret, Floyd Rose (lic.) loaded guitar since I previously evenly traded a Gibson LPJ for an Assault Plus FR (a guitar I highly recommend for anyone wanting a 24 fret, genuine Floyd Rose and Seymour Duncan loaded, high performance single cut but aren’t willing or able to spend the ESP EC1000 FR level money, the difference is these are 25.5” scale as opposed to the EC’s 24.75” scale). I set up the Assault Plus FR with a brass Sophia Trem global tuner block, EVH D-Tuna, GHS TNT’s tuned to D std… …I swapped out the stock pickups (Epiphone branded) for some hotter Dragonfire Hex Rails, put an FU Tone big brass block in and strung it up w/ GHS Boomers 10-52 TNT set tuned to dropped C… This thing SLAYS through my 5150 III EL34 50W!! Fast neck, well balanced, and stays in tune with heavy term use…so I think with about $150 worth of mods, the Assault 220 is worth every penny on the used market for $300 or less…I’m keeping both of mine as backups to my main guitars…

I like the Les Paul with the Floyd Rose. That kept me away from LP guitars until now.

Floyd Rose signed with Kramer guitars. They were the first.... they've been in business ever since. "Licensed" simply means Floyd Rose didnt manufacture, or even design it, but they endorse and lend name too. I'm considering buying the Assault. Pound for pound, apples for apples, for a guitar under $400.00 (metal) this is the guitar.

Interesting… an LP style hotrod in a 25.5” scale…. I’d love to try it… right now I use a Charvel Desolation, a hugely underrated guitar (24 3/4” scale) with a very unique neck join…

I really like that Kramer Assault from the videos I’ve seen. I’ve been a bit causes of them only because back in the early nineties my brother had one that he bought used from a pawn shop and he had it for about year until one day it started to release smoke and catch on fire due to bad electrical wiring inside the guitar. So that has made me avoid the brand altogether. But who knows, maybe they are better now than they were before.

I had a Kaman GTX I really regret selling lol. The neck felt amazing in it so I’m glad these are similar as I just ordered one. I have plans to gig and record with it probably gonna change the pickups though and put an original Floyd in it

They are series/ parallel means single coils are noiseless. Kramer puts the bridge volume knob nearest the bridge pickup so you can do volume swells, not sure about this model. I have the more expensive 220 Assault plus with Seymour Duncan’s.

Push pull was only hooked up to the neck pickup on this model

I didnt get it from sweet water i got it from a shop close to me in ny. I don’t have it anymore. I would say it is def worth the price depending what you intent is with it like music wise.

There a bunch of ibanez guitars in that price range that are as good or better then this guitar if your looking for a single cut ( les paul ) style guitar LTD makes the EC series that are great but if your looking for a single cut with a tremolo then id go with this guitar. Thanks for watching !

Yea they come from the kaman plant that make applause, ovation and a bunch of others i love there necks i should of snagged the one i was working on i actually shaped an LtD Alexi-200 neck the same way just more dramatic and i love the was it feels its actually more natural feel then a rounded neck to me

I've had it for over 20 years It had a cracked neck when I bought it (for $200) had the luthier glue it and haven't had a problem with it and it was my main gigging guitar for years. Love the neck but would like to buy another one since mine has the crack in it.

Depends if ur talking about the C6 pro FR or fixed bridge version. It would come down to which bridge you wanted then comparing the rest of specs and comfort and playability of the players preference. Me personally ? C6 Pro fr … i had a C7 pro and i loved it. And then Of course budget for the money the Kramer is Awesome where there Schecter depending where you get it can ALMOST be double the price that depending on which bridge you go with
