The grumpy old man is played by Bill Erwin. In 2011, Bill Erwin died at the age of 96, after nearly seven decades in Hollywood. Erwin’s Hollywood career dates back to 1941, when he appeared in the movie, “You’re in the Army Now.” His scores of credits include roles on “The Twilight Zone,” “Gunsmoke,” “Perry Mason,” “The Golden Girls,” “Growing Pains,” “Wagon Train,” “The Rifleman,” “The Jeff Foxworthy Show,” “Who’s the Boss?” and “My Name is Earl.”

I also remember him as the old man on the plane in the movie "Planes Trains and Automobiles". A friend and I used to say that he looked like one of the Statler and Waldorf muppets. The muppets that sit on the theater balcony and mock everything.

I love the joke about Jerry and George not putting Elaine in their pilot because they don't know how to write female characters, which is then parodied in the episode where it's just Elaine fighting with another woman about shoes. 😂

I did something similiar but we made sure to let the elderly sign up. Some really just want some one to talk to, some one to ask them questions about their life. So they can remember when they used to be some one. When they were the back bone of the family. And now they have no one except random strangers coming in during their favorite time of day. Every one deserves some one, but it has to be their choice. You should see the people I delivered food to for Loaves and Fishes. so sad, they even offered their food to me so I would stay.

the basic definition of Jewish Stereotypes? That is what sitcoms are for, making fun of the sterotype, which is ok if you are of that sterotype. But he does get a lot of nice looking girl friends so maybe it's worth thinking of
@erichan7270Ай бұрын
Nooo! I dated him for a couple years, off and on. Not HIM, but someone who had George's worst traits. Cheap, overly frugal, sneaky, judgemental, non-commital, A-hole, and sort of looked like him with the bald spot and short-ish, but better looking. Turned out he was a racist, vengeful, tight wad POS. Once when he took me out to dinner on my birthday to an ethnic restaurant, which I picked and he agreed, he tipped $1. It was a whole cultural experience with excellent food and stellar service. When it came time to leave a tip after he paid the bill he reached in his pocket and was counting change in his hand. I was thinking, "Please don't tip change!!!" He put the change back in his pocket and whew! I was relieved. Until he got his wallet out and placed $1 on the table. 😭 I was very timid back then and froze. I couldn't even find the words to say. I wanted to add to the tip but wasn't sure what cash I had and we were already standing up to leave. I just thought I'd come back later and tip/apologize. When we got to the car the owner/chef came out and asked us if everything was okay. We both said yes, it was great, etc. Then he invited us to come back to eat "at the house". I think he meant "on" the house, and he said it over and over, as if he was apologizing. I was horrified and could never go back there. About a year later I saw his restaurant had a set up at a restaurant fair I went to at a local park. I purposely walked way around it so he wouldn't see me. Somehow he spotted me in the crowd, came out from behind his restaurant booth, approached me and said, "You come back and eat at the house!" Like 3 times! I just said okay and thank you and moved along. I was so embarrassed and a bit ashamed that I didn't say or do something in the moment at his restaurant because I was so timid and afraid of how my "BF" would react to me upping his $1 tip. That was long ago and the person I am today would have spoke up and personally handed the waitress a decent tip. I was actually going to say to my date when we got to the car that I needed to go back in and use the restroom and then i could secretly tip her, but before I could get the courage and the words out of my mouth the owner/chef was running to the car. Ugh 😣

Such a stupid reaction on Elaines part to the shoes - really, really implausible and so over the top. They must have had some sort of bet in their writers room that week as to whether or not they could squeeze an entire episode out of something as ludicrous.

Yes but no...since they are Jewish, they get cart blanche to do "sterotypes" Most of the show is nothing but stereotypes. And if you disagree then you will be considered Anti semetic. And then they would say who are you to tell us jews what we can and can't do? We were slaves for thousands of years so we get to do whatever we want. Basically it's like a person of African heritage can still say the N word but a Caucasian says it and its automatically racist. Which my definition means no one or every one should be able to say it. And because we are so confused on what is racist and what isn't we leave this stuff alone. Though it seems it's only racist when a european person who isn't Jewish or whatever. Which by definition again, is racist. So the point is, in this day and age, nothing has changed with jewish people and what they can do on TV. Until all races are actually considered equal, this type of thing will happen. And all the european decendents can do is make fun of their own sterotype....but even that is racist...god I hate Politically correct generations.
