I just love how it goes from 0-100 in a millisecond as soon as he puts on the throttle. Supercharger starts screaming, the foliage in the back gets lifted up, smokes appears 'outta nowhere and fires from hell melt the tarmac. Most badass video ever.

The theory is that with the car backed up so close the back wall and garden, the couple of blips on the throttle with the rich running engine dumped enough raw methanol out the pipes that all it took was a loose spark (exhaust/tyre/whatever) to ignite it all.

mythbusters showed you have to spray fuel and start the fire. They sprayed fuel and ignited it somehow. I'd say it's even possible the flame shooting from the exhaust was the ignition. That's why there's only fire at the start rather than when they are doing burnouts in the ring.

I originally suspected gas or an accelerant on the road, but I was wrong. He has the motor set VERY rich so the fuel actually cools the motor as it spews out the exhaust, much like how an NHRA Nitro-class car is set up, and what happened was the fuel vaporizes coming out the exhaust tips onto the tires. Friction eventually WILL light the fuel, and the sheer wheel speed he's prolly clocking kept the back tires from exploding.

No flame thrower, no staging, it was just a fluke thing. None of these guys set out to ignite their cars, but these blown methanol cars can be volatile on hot days (despite it being overcast it was well over 30 degrees C) especially with full exhausts and mufflers
