These will definitely keep them cool and they will also put up with bashing so would definitely recommend them.
@EastTactics3 жыл бұрын
Curious my good friend, Why did you mount the heat sink off camera? What method did you used for keeping the heatsink tight to the motor so that there will be zero left and right shifting during some hardcore bashing? Whats going to keep it from shifting around the motor since the heatsink doesn't clamp down or strap all the way around, we missed that in your vid? We also missed how you bolted the fans to the Heatsink, doesn't even look like your using the provided stands that are part of the heatsink, are you sitting between them? or using the back prongs? Also... just fair warning, based on the extensive research that I've done specifically on these 40mm fans. The way you have them mounted has a high chance of busting the fan from hard landings. If you watch RCDude81 review of these fans, the one that sticks out (the left one, with zero support under it) broke on him. Even the fan that is not sticking out, the one that mounted closer in, I don't think has any support directly under the fan. I've found, that even a few centimeters of gap between the fan and the heatsink increases breakage exponentially with these fans. (which by the way .... are not metal blades, they are spray painted with a metallic spray paint, which dont get me wrong... is still cool, and likely adds strength) These fans are amazing, and Gamechanger RC is one of the few who offers them at a semi decent price (while I still recommend you DIY the project) he's a solid vender. I just want both him and his customers to know the vulnerability of mounting these fans with no direct support under them. If he makes a version my way, he better contact me and call it the EastTactics setup. lol (hint hint) These fans are powerful enough that you really only need one over the motor, two is really overkill in my opinion. Plus you can focus more on mounting it properly (vertically... not at an angle) when you go with one as well. Anyway... great video and thanks for sharing.
@BarstoneRC3 жыл бұрын
I really appreciate the information and I mounted the fans in that direction it was a very tight fit getting the heat sink on the motor and I put them that way I figured if they did move or shift they would go down towards the chassis instead of the other direction, I don’t know yet if that was the best way but that’s what I chose to do at the moment. As far as mounting the fans I did what the diagram showed me that came with the fans depending on the heat sink and fans being used you were supposed to use holes one and three on the top row so that’s what I did. obviously until I test it out and give it a good bashing I won’t know how they’re going to hold up in that mounting but that’s what I was advised to do.

@@BarstoneRC Yes... keep me in the loop how well they hold up. Most people dont bash as hard as RCDUDE81, so you might be fine. My Tactics (which will be in my next video) are really for those who massively sending it, or attacking skate parks). Bash in my friend (always great content!)

@@BarstoneRC dont misunderstand me i freaking love how great they look i want 1 for mine and i got to have those cooling fin they fit so nice
@BarstoneRC3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I understand where you’re coming from, that’s one of the main reasons I never got into crazy gearing on my cars is due to overheating issues but on the really hot summer days especially at the motocross track I’ve had them get pretty warm so I figured I would give these fans a try and see how much it helps.
@bdawg13373 жыл бұрын
So yeah, that's a pretty terrible solution. Those ribs on the motor is a heatsink. You are trapping still air between the ribs and insulating heat in the motor. On top of that you are blowing high CFM fans straight down into a wall, which makes a load of turbulence and nothing else. Essentially I will say you added noise, power usage and little or no cooling.
@BarstoneRC3 жыл бұрын
Well I can tell you many many people use this same setup and it cools VERY well. The external heat sync is thighs to the motor wich now pulls the heat from the motor and the fan cools the heat sync.
@bdawg13373 жыл бұрын
@@BarstoneRC I know lots of people use similar solutions, but unfortunately it’s just because very few people know what they are doing. Had the motor been a smooth surface variant and lightly coated with thermal compound, then yes, heat could indeed transfer decently to the heat sink. Putting it on a ribbed motor though makes no sense. Also I don’t understand why you are using axial fans to blow straight down between the wings of the heat sink. With my knowledge of thermodynamics, I would recommend you strip that setup off and run without.
@BarstoneRC3 жыл бұрын
Well I’m just testing these out on this car and then I might be putting them on my Typhon it does have a smooth motor casing.
@bdawg13373 жыл бұрын
@@BarstoneRC To me they don’t at all look like great fans for cooling something like this. You want to duct something around the ribs on the motor with high static pressure. Also I personally favor radial fans as they are more durable, especially in dirty air. Don’t get me wrong, axial fans can work okay. But you really need to give them a good working conditions and not choke them like this. I am willing to bet that if you take one of those fans, place it with a good bit of distance to the motor blowing at it, and throw the heat sink out, then you just improved your cooling 10x
@BarstoneRC3 жыл бұрын
I’ve never even ran fans on my motors unless it came with it on there. I was just trying this out to see how it help or held up.
