Great idea, we also use those 4028 fans on several cars, even though they are 12V they cool a lot on only 6V. So far we haven’t broken any yet.
@DoRC
@DoRC Жыл бұрын
For sure. They put out more air on 6 volts than most other fans do on 7.4 volts and they are built extremely well. I know they aren't really designed from the factory to handle a lot of g-forces but just the fact that they're built well means that they hold up very well to them anyway.

Excellent video. I'm going to do that for that new Arrma Fury. Also 3:25. Supports are safe but I dislike having to break them off and it's never super clean anyways. I've been really pretty impressed with enabling bridge in Cura settings and printing in mid air. With small gaps like this, it comes out fine. Piece of cake. Keep up the good work. Love this channel... I've always wondered what people do. Blow air on the motor? Or Blow air away from the motor. What's best?
@DoRC
@DoRC 4 ай бұрын
You want to blow air toward a heat sink. This is because blowing air towards the heat sink creates turbulent flow which encourages heat transfer. Drawing through the heat sink can cause laminar flow which will create a boundary layer. Toward or away from a motor is a little harder to say though generally the fan isn't right against the motor so you want to blow towards it to have a directed stream of air rather than away from it which will pull air in from all directions

I just put away a whole batch of those in my storage unit. I was doing house cleaning. And needed the space. I have the 40mm Delta fans, 40 mm AVC fans, and also some 50, 60, and 80 mm fans. They are truly durable fans. I put 60 mm on my 56113 motor. Is in my Kraton EXB 8S. But, I run my fans off the Lipo. Usually, a separate 4S Lipo. The fans can handle up to 16V. Even though they are rated for 3S. Or, 12V.

Time is Money, I have made many of these, bought all the supplies to make tons of them, some worked out some did not, all the time involved and finding the right parts, I have come to the conclusion I'd rather pay some dude $20-30 to make them for me. Mostly because they have made hundreds and there work is way better than mine, plus THE RIGHT FAN is key as MANY don't hold up to bashing. Most of the Ebay or small Brand guys have tested them WELL. Sending your rig in the back yard for a few minutes is honestly not the best determination if there gonna hold up, and most won't, that's why I trust Hyperflow, Thunderoos (too expensive overseas😱) etc. Because there so many specific fan models and some are not built to take big sends or long term bashing. But this is a good video, not knocking it. Definitely helpful and it's great that everyone tries this, it's fun! I Think East Tactics did a very detailed series of videos on this a while back. I've just come to the conclusion that $20-40 for a well built fan solution is reasonable if done right and it holds up. People gotta get paid, if you can make your own, cool!!.... But I've seen some in the comments say you EXPOSED these guys asking for $30+ for a fan😂😂 You know ya gotta pay someone to make it, find the right parts etc😂 People gotta make a living, you want to follow these instructions cool, have at it, it's fun! See ya round
@DoRC
@DoRC Жыл бұрын
I've actually been doing this for years and have run a bunch of different fans on different vehicles through a lot of abuse. As long as you get a good quality fans like Delta brand they hold up really well. I probably made 30 of these over the years and I've only broken a couple of them. That being said everybody's experience is different.
@RcPlayer-tt2vw
@RcPlayer-tt2vw Жыл бұрын
It’s the mount that’s key to them lasting , 20 30 is fair , it’s the 70 80 that’s crazy to use for bashing imo , I’m like do rc and get satisfaction making my own and my specialty is cooling and heating HVAC.
@3SonsRC
@3SonsRC Жыл бұрын
@@RcPlayer-tt2vw I have made my own and I wouldn't sell them for $30, too much time, effort, and a bit of learned skill, plus you have to buy all the connectors, the sheith, crimper or soldier etc etc. But I hear ya, these dudes gotta make money, $70 is definitely steep IMHO, $50 would be max I think with a mount included. Yes mount is key BUT if you look at the fans these guys sell, Thunderoos, Hyperflow, GC.... Good luck finding those actual fans, you can find good ones but I don't know where these are found, probably Ali-Baba but for Comercial? I can't find them, and the guts fall out the middle of bad ones even with support under. Like these metal ones I'm running from hyperflow.... There entirely metal, blades, supports under, frame.... There amazing, and I can't find them anywhere.... But the time to make them etc .... But if you like doing it, it's fun, I have done it, now days I prefer someone else messing with it. Hyperflow.... There the best balance of price, Toughness, and cool options IMHO. Bash on bro

@@3SonsRC I agree with everything, for me I get them for free , two different brands , one seems better , but I agree the ones researched for rcs probably are better and already come with the mounts and cages most of the time , the all road cars I’ll spend my time making them nice because I know they’ll last but bashing I usually just wire tie fan to the motor and or heatsink and if it breaks nbd because I have a lot of them , it became a time consuming and frustration like you said , but I know you really send , my yards not that big so I doubt I get over 30 mph before launching but it’s rough on fans still understanding because I’m not using a mount sometimes not even a heat sink . I will say I had a max 8 that must of lasted 1000s of runs , and I owe to mounting one of these 4o mm fans directly on top . I have one last BLX 185 esc I’ve been through probably 10 atleast so I know how long they last . When it started acting funny , I put it in the db pro with 40 mm fan on the esc , one facing the motor so it’s also pulling from the esc fan mounted right on the chassis , the cheapo spectrum 3200kv motor with the arrma heat sink and that little fan they give you , that fan only one hooked to the receiver with some lights but the two 40 mm fans and most of my hookups I use those red plugs for rc , I forget the name “ I solder a female on the batteries I’m going be using fans , than a male on the fan takes 30 seconds , it did become more of a novelty hobby” with the fans . I’m not sending the db pro and I’m pretty sure I have the db pro moving like they weren’t” intended for 😂 . I put 6s in it couple times , just a little . My point is worth it for that car for me , because just cool I made it perform like crazy really not spending any money , the esc motor just get warm and the stock boring db pro now rips . And with all the fans making noise and the lights , that esc lasting now and I know had kept running 6 bashers it been done long time ago , now I only use it once in a while but my once in while probably the average rc usage . I’ll set a typhon or something up and you 2/4 packs 7 days a week .

@RcPlayer-tt2vw Nice. Yeah I've killed probably two or three of them over the years so they're not indestructible but I've run basically every fan out there and other than the ones that come stock on the new G2 ESCs I think pretty much any brand of these type of fans is more durable than most other options out there.

This fan might help but you really shouldn't be experiencing severe overheating to begin with. Is the ESC or the motor overheating?

I'm running two of the upgraded 21k fans on my xmaxx and 2 30mm on my asuga xlr. Do you think one of these would push more than those currently do?
@DoRC
@DoRC 2 ай бұрын
Properly speced and given enough power absolutely. These things are designed to cool commercial computer servers and move a ton of air.
@MrDontask007
@MrDontask007 2 ай бұрын
@DoRC do you think the receiver would give enough power to make that happen?
@DoRC
@DoRC 2 ай бұрын
@MrDontask007 Well it's the ESC that's actually responsible for powering the things that are connected to the receiver and it really depends on the ESC and honestly it depends on the receiver. I have run one pretty powerful fan off the receiver using a fairly strong ESC and it's been fine but it definitely is going to consume some jam.

They come and go. Best things to do is look for 40 mm server fan and then filter for used. You can often find them in lots of four or eight for a reasonable price but it's always kind of a crap shoot.
@jhrubicon1470
@jhrubicon1470 3 ай бұрын
@DoRC yeah, I've found that if you search "40mmx28mm" you get what was shown in your video, if you don't put the 28mm you find some crazy tall fans lol. Thanks for the quick response and GREAT CHANNEL! 🍻 Current cars: MJX H8H, Losi XXX BK1 edition, Losi XXX-NT rtr (still can't figure out where I got that thing)
