The thing I see people constantly get wrong are speed feats. Speed isn't a sole category. Speed is physical movement speed from 1 place to another, i.e. dodging or gap closing. Its also combat speed. How fast can you swing your weapon? How fast can you move part of your body out of the way of an attack? How fast can you react? Kratos could be 100% matched with Vergil's speed (he isn't anywhere close) but if he can't react fast enough it doesnt matter. Dante in DMC3 dodged a 9mm bullet shot from a few feet behind him, maybe 10ft at MOST. Being that 9mm bullets usually travel at supersonic speeds (~1200 feet per second) , the bullet would have hit him before he heard it. At a rate of 1200 feet per second, it would have crossed the distance between its starting point and Dante's head in roughly 8 milliseconds (1200 feet per second, thats 1 foot every 1.2 milliseconds). Yet he still dodged it by casually moving his head to the side. So the only thing that would give him any sort of indication that a bullet was fired at him was the sound of the hammer striking the firing pin. But then how did he know to move his head? Was it just a lucky guess? Or was he able to somehow sense it? Vibrations in the air maybe? Any way you slice it, thats an insane reaction time thats best measured in microseconds or nanoseconds being that he still had time to move his head out of the way before the bullet hit it. He would have had to have heard the shot. And thats human form Dante as a teenager. Vergil was even stronger and faster than him at that point. Also, you left out Vergils ability to instantaneously teleport with pretty much no limit. He can use it as often as he wants and teleport pretty much anywhere he wants too. Kratos could be 100 octillion times faster than the speed of light. Its still not as fast as instant. Vergil's Dark Slayer teleports are outright stated in the game files themselves to be instant teleports. Its basically Instant Transmission from the DBZ Manga, but on meth and crack at the same time. Has Kratos actually matched anyone who swings their weapon hundreds if not thousands of times per second? Because Dante and Vergil were casually doing that as Teenagers in their human forms. I'm confident Kratos gets absolutely bodied by DMC3 Vergil, then again by Nelo Angelo, then gets erased from existence by DMC5 Vergil.

I mean Kratos had dodged lightning bolts from Zeus, dodged hits from Valkyries who can move at the speed of light, he was able to keep up with Hermes even without his boots on which isn't really the strongest piece of evidence because he was toying with Kratos. Also he is able to swing his blades around like a fucking helicopter in gow 2 when he is in rage of the Titans and in God of war 3 he's able to swing the blade of Olympus around like it's a toy so he definitely has weapon speed on his side. I do think Vergil has faster weapon speed but Kratos isn't exactly slow either. So tldr I think Vergil is still faster than Kratos but Kratos isn't that slow either and speed isn't everything, Kratos could definitely do some good damage if he Is able to land a hit on Vergil.

Nah, both games are just that inconsistent with expressing abilities, especially the physical ones. Sparda family and Kratos have both faced and beaten enemies and actions with "immeasurable" speeds, teleportation, enhanced reflexes, and time manipulation, YET they all still get caught or clocked by beings who possess MUCH lesser speeds. Just recall all the canonical times the Sparda family members all got served by non-lightning, non-light, non-speed based attacks. DMC3, Dante got turned into a pin cushion by lesser demons, wasn't quick enough to dodge Lady's bullet, got his coat shredded in their gunfight, and got planted to the ground by Beowulf. DMC4, he went half-assedly against Nero, but was still caught and punched repeatedly in their first fight, then was nailed to the wall with Rebellion. DMC5, Urizen/Vergil bitch-slapped him into a coma. Vergil, in DMC3 was yeeted, along with Dante and Lady, by a psycho breakdancing preacher-clown who tapdances to Dante's gunfire. Later, he got beaten by Dante whom he had previously beaten on the tower. In DMC, the first game, he was enslaved by Mundus, a being not exactly known for speed-related abilities. Nero himself continued the Sparda family tradition of being impaled to things by getting walled by a bunch of Angelos in DMC4. In DMC5, he was caught like a pokemon when the giant kirby monster threw an ambulance at him. Kratos, despite having canonical FTL (Hermes, Zeus, Odin, Thor and a bunch of other beings who can teleport and/or move at FTLightning speeds) and faster-than-thought feats (fully displayed against Heimdall, the God of Foresight, who has the ability to hear and see things across all the realms, is basically capable of auto-dodge and auto-defense with his ability to read intent, and has time manipulation abilities, beaten because Kratos overwhelmed his senses and outpaced his reflexes and, thanks to player input, can dodge even in slowed time), has been caught, grabbed, stabbed, slammed and shot at by slower enemies (basilisk, Deimos, the hydra, the kraken, Icarus, the Colossus of Rhodes, various Titans, Hercules, Ares who threw a fcking pillar thrown across the desert, etc., etc.). At the end of it all, it comes down to how the narrative presents them lol speed is relative to the storyteller i guess

So something to say with the peak of combat 9d feats, it’s not just human souls but all souls, and several demons in DMC 3 (the Soul Eater) and later on are stated to be souls themselves and Dante and Vergil affected them and killed them. Not only that but Vergil’s mirage edge is stated to be Vergil’s soul itself. So they definitely have 9d scaling. This isn’t counting the name concept stuff where Mundus is named after the Unus Mundus Jungian archetype which would scale DMC 3 Vergil to high outer as DMC 3 Vergil was stated to be capable of killing Mundus if he wasn’t already weakened after fighting Dante

He only struggles in game in order make a playable game, in the comics that show transition from Greek to Norse mythologies Kratos literally stands still and let's a pack of wolves tire themselves out trying to kill him. Theres certain events in the fights that are part of the lore because they are a required event during the fight and those events show Kratos having difficulty. That is not the case for Devil May Cry for the most part. Theres very few bosses in DMC that have scripted abilities once certain criteria are met. For instance, Vergil using Judgement Cut End in DMC5. He ALWAYS uses it shortly after flying around the arena. Unless you body him fast enough that is.

I wanted to watch more, but the lowballing for Kratos is crazy. In terms of speed, Kratos should be at least ‘inaccessible’ given he fought and defeated the Valkyries. GoW Valkyries are able to travel in and out different realms (each have their own separate time flow). EDIT Ate my veggies and finished the vid. Considering that each realm is supposed to be in a separate plane of existence, according the GoW 2018 novel, Kratos should be fully capable of fighting 9D beings. Technically can go a lot higher, but that’s not really needed here. As for the Urizen, I don’t think Kratos would lose that fight. Reasons being that the full equipment Kratos discovered within the Norse realm alone would give him massive buffs for pretty much all stats (strength, defense, magic potency, speed, etc.). Spartan Rage by itself is no joke either. Kratos gets a considerable boost in AP and defense, to the point where all damage he receives is neutralized; and he can heal while in this state. Throw in other arguments, like Kratos scaling to Polygon-Man, and Urizen may very get cooked.

In the book, chapter 18, it states that the realms are in separate planes of existence. Logically speaking, if a being is able to affect all the realms simultaneously, they are able to affect 9-dimensions and 9D beings as well.

i think kratos would definitely be able to defeat urizen if he really needed to, and maybe even dante ( but thats like a 50/50 could go either way ) because kratos holds back with all the feats that he has done and has never really gone full strength because the creator has stated that the games would be too easy. Also theres a theory thats is somewhat true that kratos just cant die and that he was cursed with that by the gods, and whos to say that kratos wouldnt pickup and use any of the weapons in dmc after defeating someone to become even stronger. I find it difficult to judge because they are difficult in terms of power, the sphere of influence that they can manipulate everything, since they are roughly on the same level. So it would just be a battle of perseverance and who uses what when and how. With Vergil, even if he didn't use it again in the fifth part, in the third part Vergil was able to create a shield that blocked absolutely everything Dante tried. I tend to think that if DMC5 Virgil and Kratos have a fight it would end in a draw and they would both kill each other together.

It's difficult to compare two different standards of fantasy, one beibg western and other being japanase, especially when it comes power scaling, Gow universe was a lot more believable in terms of power scaling because of how the devs made power showcase scenarios in the games very believable, unlike with something like dmc, which every charcater by default is overpowered, it's like comparing Kratos to Goku, it's more of a writing thing, simply giving a charcater infinite power, infinite speed, infinite abilities makes it less interesting imo, which is what goes on in dmc, Dante powers wouldnt work in the world of Gow simply because that's not how the world is designed, so by theory if Kratos lived in dmc world, he also would have been an overpowered anime charcater let's be honest
