I absolutely love 2:03 - Heimdall's strength comes from the fact that he can see people's intentions and know what they're doing next but Kratos' training and reflexes just go into overdrive to the point where there is no conscious intention and he lands a punch. So satisfying

Actually heimdall senses slow down when he gets stunned by the spear The weapon was literally made to counter him If his ultra instinct doesn’t get stunned by the spear Kratos won’t hit him That’s why you have to keep using the spear in the game And he tells mimir the spear remains our best chance Heimdall power is lowkey broken If he had baldurs strength with his fore sight …he’d have been a problem

Apparently Christopher Judge when doing the motion capture for that scene actually messed up his first attempt to grab the horn on accident haha, he wanted to refilm the shot but after they took a look at the footage the directors thought it that it looked realistic and very fitting haha! but I also like to think it ties into Kratos and him realizing he killed another god and going back to his old ways.

Something is off about Thors death tho. Like why did he just evaporate when all the other gods don’t disappear or anything when they die? Magni, Modi, Baldur, Heimdall, and Odins bodies were shown after death but Thor just turns to lightening particles so something tells me he’s not truly dead. Also we see Kratos get stabbed through the chest at the beginning of the game by Freya and he took it like it was nothing but the strongest god of the Aesir dies to one stab of a spear? I get it was through the heart but you’d think that their gods and more durable

@Punch Down King in his defence Heimdall deserved to be maimed like Hermes. But he was considerably lucky That kratos gave him a quick death. Imagine dying because of blood loss due to the loss of both legs.

Kratos in the last game was all about avoiding killing. He only needed to kill if needed. This game, Kratos wanted to be an example for Atreus so Atreus does not go down a dark path. Since Heimdall threatened Kratos to kill Atreus next time they lock eyes with each other, Kratos kills him going back to his old way. Mimir knows Kratos doesn’t want to go back to his old ways but this is something unavoidable. That and the prophecy, if Kratos dies, Atreus goes to Odin and becomes Loki. If Kratos lives, Atreus stays as Atreus.

In addition to other reasons stated here, it's the same as why Modi was so shocked when Kratos killed Magni in GOW4. Heimdall is fated by prophecy to survive till Ragnarok, specifically that he and Loki will kill eachother during it. That's also what Mimir's line about fate is about. Killing Heimdall before Ragnarok should've been impossible.

It’s amazing to think; Kratos killed the Greek Pantheon, his own father and top God of the Greeks, Zeus. Atreus brought about the end of the Norse pantheon, and in a technicality, killed the All-Father, Odin (though that kill would still go to Sindri just for respect towards Brok.) The family lineage for the God of War is amazingly strong, both father and son a force to be reckoned with.

I cant help but feel like when kratos was killing heimdall all his rage and anger came flooding back with memories of his past kills and deeds. Heimdall saw this which explains his terror while being killed. Also why he calls him a monster. He just saw inside the head of a man who destroyed a pantheon.

@@corruptcream They are violent but i believe thats just bc of the game being made to be closer to GOW3 brutality. Not really bc of his canonical bloodlust. He took out the troll in svartlheim when atreus drove the train into it and in his codex for the beast he says the beast broke his fall so the least he couldve done was put it out its misery. I think the devs wanted more brutality but canonically he does swift mercy kills.

They did such a good job of showing when Kratos of old starts to show itself, he just hits them so much harder, is so much more unyielding and brutal. You saw it with Heimdall, no weapons, simply beat him down mercilessly. Kratos of olds power is too great for Heimdall to deal with.

im personally wondering how the spear was any good against heimdall they said "overwhelm his senses" when i saw drapnir could duplicate, i was imagining kratos throwing so many spears that it would be impossible to dodge all of them but the fight doesnt work like that, instead heimdall just lets the spears explode next to him and kratos ends up punching heimdall just as much as stabbing him

i think the giants lied in their prophecy from what i understand from the whole story, they left fake one so that odin would not know how the real path will go, and to make atreus do the choices he made till the end. even at the end of the ragnarok storyline, there was a painting that states a new path. wont spoil it in case people haven finish or wants to know it themselves
