Basic judo defense is push up on the elbow of the arm that reaches behind your head, push up with both hands… works on most chokes, amazing that no one show this defense, that is the weak point of this choke, the elbow , not the arm around your neck, attacker is strong around your neck and behind your head but weak at that elbow

Apart from the choke being done wrong (what probably is normal in the streets) rotating out is possible but not with a huge strength gap and also not when choked by someone wh apllues the choke correctly

Try to get a couple of hundred sparring hours in. It is mandatory to become a fighter (and also very hunbling and enjoyable)- otherwise you become a martial "artist"- which is fine too but will only help you to a certain degree in real life. I once went to a Ju Jutsu (not BJJ) gym where they only practice the theory but never spar. And I crushed the blackbelt co-trainer in a friendly sparring while me being only a low belt BJJ dude and boxer at that time. Not want to show of - I have big respect for them. I just want to emphazise that- to get stuff nailed- there is only one way: Real fights/sparrings. You will see differences in techniques that you did not even know existed. Also some stuff that is teached does simply not work. Or only works in certain sports scenarios. But as a guy who is interested in martial arts- you probably know that already. Wish you the best on your RL and YT journey! And apologies if my initial comment was too arrogant. Cheers

Excellent Tutorial on rear choke hold. To add this could happen in water, if a swim rescue attempt goes pear shaped.Use this technique then push off and under the choke holder, swim around and you can tow in person in difficulty,with a cross chest carry or a head carry or hair grab rescue with 2 people in difficulty 🙂

@@lycandefensiveNot really. The person grabbing you would be pulling you backwards, towards their center of gravity, not leaning forward, into yours. You'd be better off dropping to the ground and rolling away.

Thank you for illustrating the perfect example of telling me you didn't watch the full video without coming out and saying you didn't watch the full video. And now, you're contradicting yourself. If your point is that this technique wouldn't work if the choke is sunk in, how is "dropping to the ground and rolling away" going to do anything except sink it in tighter and long enough for you to lose consciousness? I teach absolutely nothing that I haven't myself validated.
@boleperishon5272
@boleperishon5272 Жыл бұрын
@@lycandefensiveOf course dropping to the ground wouldn't work, that was my point. What I meant was that anyone who knows even a little won't 1. grab you without pulling you to them instantly and 2. punching or kicking you before they grab you. Your technique would work on someone who doesn't know what they're doing or who is not trying to hurt you for real. I did, however, fail to say that I do agree with your points at the end. They were the most useful part of the video. Especially since the "ninja awareness" you would need to react quickly enough for the technique to be effective, is the one that, as you say, has you turn face to face with your opponent.

Why would somebody do the RNC standing without pulling you back first and then take you to the ground? Everything works when technique is improperly applied.
@lycandefensive
@lycandefensive Жыл бұрын
The whole idea, behind all self-defense techniques, is to try and get out of them before they get to a really bad spot. Taking someone down to the ground could be the progression of choice, but it would be completely idiotic to wait until then to start trying to defend yourself, regardless of how it's applied.

@@lycandefensive, the hand on the bicep slides up to your shoulder and you bury your face between your shoulder and their neck. I also rotate my wrist so the back of my hand is on the back of their neck. It's tighter before there is even a squeeze. Moot point though. IDK why anyone would try an RNC on someone standing with their weight on their feet (unless you were on them like a backpack with hooks in). If anything you'd have to break their posture as you grabbed them for it to make sense.

@@LycanWomensSelfDefense you must explain that a rear naked choke will involve the attacker establishing full back mount while seated. In that case your escape is good only if you escape the legs.
@LycanWomensSelfDefense
@LycanWomensSelfDefense Жыл бұрын
You misunderstand the purpose of this attack and defense. It’s not jiu jitsu. It is for a woman (or man) being dragged off to a van or secondary location. In that case, the attacker is not going to sit, nor is he trying to submit or necessarily choke out the person he’s attacking. In another scenario, the attacker is holding someone in an RNC to be pummeled by his friends.

@lycandefensive the problem is when it doesn't work. If the person is strong and has a tight enough grip on your neck, spinning into them like that while standing can result in a broken neck. The proper RNC, the attacker will hide his face and not allow his eyes to be grabbed. My old coworker and I went through this exact scenario when we had some downtime at work. I'm not saying this will never work, but knowing it may not work every time and having an immediate 3 second plan B in place can save your life.
