Professional fighters wrap their hands and wear gloves to protect their hands when fighting. How do those in a self defense situation not break their hand?

Dear Krav Maga Academy, Nice techniques, good approach in showing techniques from the sides, but not for First steps, mayby step Two, for medium level. The Fist step is about defending against those jabs and crosss by side stepping, from say,, face to face position and applying some stopping or derailing hand blocks mostly to the side. Beginners should not show preparedness, and worst, they seldom can hit effectively, especially women. Cosequerntly, sidestepping is the best possible option. Teaching requires presentation executed and trainied at three different speeds: - Slow for learning, -Medium for training - High speed for veryfying if it works in practice. WIth over 30 years of practice, mostly in sport Karate, beginners should be encouraged to defend by movements, like running away at long distance or side stepping at close distance than accepting hand-to-hand combat situation, which is possible and safer for those with some medium level of sel-f defence. Best regards, Paul, age, 65, retired istructor of Karate.
