Kravitz is back! | The Adventure Zone Animatic

i finished something!! been workin on this since ep68 came out and am done just in time for the finale and also moving out to nyc for college so between the emotional upheaval of those things combined i prob wont have any videos up for a while (whats new tho). but i just... rlly am emo about the balance arc ending; taz has been the most thoughtfully & lovingly told story i've ever had the pleasure 2 hear and i'm so in awe of how griffin and the boys are tying everything up so perfectly :') i'll def get around to drawing more things for it, i gotta figure out what the ipre crew looks like. also, i know this is like the most vanilla taako design but i just picked smth easy and recognizable for efficiency.

First, what an amazing Kravitz. Second, hooo boy, you took a scene that already had so much character to it, and gave it even more heart. Especially the hug at the end. It took Taako's line from a way to stop having to talk about emotions (which is hard for him), to that plus showing how much Kravitz's answer emotionally affected him. So so good

Okay like this encounter is so good for a number of reasons. For one, the amount that these two love each other is great. But beyond that, Taako dropping his disguise actually says so much about his character. Like, this is a man who has lost basically everything: his friends, his sister, his cooking show, and even his looks. Through magic, Taako managed to hang on to that last one, not because he just wants to look pretty, but because he's trying to hang on to himself. He's trying to hold on to this thing that has been part of his identity for his entire life. But when he meets up with Kravitz and they make out, Taako realizes that what he's doing isn't true to himself. It isn't true to Kravitz. So he drops the disguise, fully expecting Kravitz to just leave. Because, from his point of view, his looks were the last thing that made Taako Taako. So when he releases it, what reason would Kravitz have to stay with him? Of course, Kravitz absolutely loves him and doesn't give a shit that he's slightly less handsome. Of course, Taako being Taako, he tries to play it off as a joke. Anyway, I love this scene and you did an amazing job bringing it to life!
