KRE Tour 2010.mov

This is the tour of radio station KRE in Berkeley CA. KRE is now the headquarters of the California Historical Radio Society (CHRS) and the Bay Area Radio Museum and Hall of Fame (BARHOF). CHRS President Steve Kushman conducts this tour. KRE is where Richard Dreyfus and Wolfman Jack were filmed for the radio scenes in the 1973 George Lucas movie "American Graffiti."

This is so great. I remember in 1979 I was there when KRE-FM Became KBLX FM. The first KBLX Program Director was a lady by the name of Beverly Myers. Then B.K. Kirkland took over for many years. It was owned by Inter City Broadcasting out of New York. Sister station was WBLS. I was the Western Regional Promotion Manager for Motown Records working out of Los Angeles. I would fly up to the Bay area every Wednesday. That was music day in the bay area. I would visit KSOL, KDIA, KBLX and KRE -AM. I would also, visit the One Stop Music People in Oakland. And about ten record shops. I would be back in Los Angeles by 7:00 pm. KBLX during the 80'' and 90' was a cash cow. They did so well that all they had to do was wire funds to New York Head Quarters once a month. New York never put pressure on KBLX at 601 Ashby Ave Berkeley, CA Which is where the radio museum is in this video. The programming was targeted for adults 25 to 54 with mainly R&B, Pop ballots and Jazz. You could listen to this stations all day long. Shot out to Harvey Stone, Kevin Brown and Elroy Smith.

What year was the floor model Zenith radio, in frame 6:50, third from the left? I have one exactly like it. I was told it was built in either 1936 or 1939. Would appreciate your answer.
