If a band makes mostly similar albums for their entire career people throw the AC/DC label at them “every album sounds the same” but if they change it up every so often people throw the Metallica label at them “they should have just stuck to the same structure”
@supremelordoftheuniverse5449
@supremelordoftheuniverse5449 2 жыл бұрын
It's not that simple. There is a huge difference between a band being consistent and sticking to its guns, not changing style but offering high quality in release after release - in other words, writing something that no one else could have written because they invented it and are the best at it AND bands that just churn out the same recycled ideas over and over (and become a parody of themselves). Similarly, innovation and style change can be welcome if it's creative and elevates the band to new heights. What Metallica did with the black album was the opposite - they dumbed down the music, slowed down the speed and just went on to play straight forward dad rock.

Honestly, at this point I think he does this shit on purpose. Every time he has to say the name "nuclear" he butchers it, like you all know. But he has also said multiple times he'll keep doing it as long as it annoys us. He said the word like a normal person until he noticed saying "nucular" really annoys people. So if anyone at BangerTV is seeing this comment, tell Blayne that we love it and to never stop *Italian chef kiss*

I dont think them not being "thrashy" enough is the problem with this record. I think the songs are just not very well written compared to other records. Alot of the guitar parts are recycled and the lyrics are quite frankly lazy and repetitive. Not much stands out in this record.

What I like about newer Kreator albums is that they took standard thrash and did something unique with it. Thrash as a genre was getting pretty stale until Kreator breathed new life into it.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but I could not disagree with this review enough. Music is dynamic and just because it is not Extreme Agression or Pleasure to Kill part 2 does not make it a bad album. I actually like the fact they have different sounding songs and it's not all speed. I am guessing he didn't like Slayers South of Heaven either.

My two favorite songs are Midnight Sun and Dying Planet ... Album is solid in my opinion... It is a mixed bag album for sure ... I would like to see kreator be more brutal and punchy instead of being more melodic .. change it up abit ... KREATOR is honestly probably top 10 or top 5 all time favorite bands for me ... \m/

Thank you for somewhat putting into words how I felt about this album. It was like with movie trailers these days, the best scenes/songs are given away in singles, and the rest isn't that great. Although I realized I've come to love Kreator very late (saw them live in 2018 the first time), when they were on the Gods of Violence cycle and also played many Phantom Antichrist bangers, both of which are also pretty melodic and somewhat epic, which is exactly why I love those two albums so much. Also agree on the new Sodom album, for me it's the best record ever from these boys.

I'm a big fan of Kreator's later work (Violent Revolution and onwards) and sometimes they can get really lazy with their lyrics. Spending a little time to vary up the choruses would go a long way and would basically fix any of the lyrical issues that I have. HUA is an ok album and I'm glad that I bought it to support the band. Thankfully, their previous material is really solid and more fun to revisit.

Got the same felling about this one Blayne, bit to slow pace, not trashy enough, solos are nice and it has few moments here and there but that's about it I rather listen to the old stuff too. So far Ep from Wombbath - The Weight of Reality is what I enjoy the most this year.

This album is a mixed bag. There's some good thrashers, but there's also several clunkers as well. I feel like they wanted to drift a bit from their core thrash sound here, so it may not be everyone's cup of tea.

They’ve been doing the Thrash meets Epic Heavy Metal thing for a while already. The difference between this and the last couple is that it feels like they’re trying too hard now. They gotta let moments breathe. The songs always felt like they barely ever kicked into the next gear. They didn’t let songs take flight and sound epic on their own, a bit too heavy handed. Gods of Violence is my favorite, and I wanted more of that here. Not quite, but it isn’t bad.

Sound pretty tight! I don't mind a slower pace here and there, atmosphere and experimentation. On repetition, true, but for me clever lyrics and vocals are just a bonus. Truth is, I never knew what he was saying in a classic like Pleasure to Kill, until he sings "Plea-sure-to-kill!" It was fast, relentless and brutal sound, clever composition, killer solos and machine gun drumming. This new stuff may be less 'old stuff' or brutal, perhaps a bit more moody, marching or repetitive, but still has all the musical gems I love from Kreator. Just where they are at 'right now' in their musical journey.

It's albums like this that should make us not take for granted the luxury we have to listen to it on YT 1st before buying! The pomegranate metaphor is spot on. How bad this album is would be easy to blame on the core members' age, but when there are death metal bands from their era still grinding, that potential excuse goes out the door. This album feels like those moments when a band puts out a bad album, only to be later outdone by a horrible album- then suddenly that bad album sounds like a masterpiece compared to the new, horrible album (ex: Slayer's Divine Intervention sounding like retread notes until Diabolos in Musica dropped, then going back to Divine & thinking it's actually really good- except the production. ) Respectfully, I disagree with some of the comments here. The last 4 Kreator albums were all great with some weak spots here & there. This one sounds too "catchy", overly melodic for a Kreator album, & obnoxiously chorus heavy! If there was a fund to help Kreator pay to re-record their 1st 5 albums with today's production technology, especially Terrible Certainty, I'd be down for that !

The album sounds like the last few albums just a few chord changes. Its getting to the point were if you aren't a hardcore fan you couldn't tell what song comes from what album. Just serve up the same thing over and over to the generic fans that don't or are scared of any change in music. Most of these bands saw what happened in the 90s and realized that in order to survive with the shrinking fan base they had to deliver the same thing over and over. The AC/DC formula.

Very fair review. I was hyped for this after "666 World Divided" dropped a while ago, and then "Hate Ueber Alles" coming out as the first single. Both great tracks (sad the former wasn't on the record). With Arthur Rizk producing and Eliran Kantor for the cover art, this seemed like a contender for best of 2022. Then "Strongest of the Strong" and "Midnight Sun" came out... Also, Tankard is better than Anthrax ;)

5:50 yes I understand how you feel about intro tracks. Necrotic Nick over at Thralls of Metal is saying the same thing. It definitely seems to be a growing trend amongst metal bands nowadays and I'm also starting to think they're unnecessary. If anything, there should just be a really good opening riff to the first song. Like, those guitar licks that open up Holy Wars, The Punishment Due on Rust in Peace by Megadeth.

Kreator in the 1980s up to Coma of Souls is still insanely good, from 1992 and onwards they have absolutely sucked, all this melodic garbage they keep throwing in and trying to sound more Iron Maiden esque does not fit Kreator, if you compare the new Kreator to what Sodom and Destruction have been doing for the past ten year's, its like a chicken in a group of pit pulls.

Yes I agree their first 5 albums are all classics, but I also think their two 2010s albums are also just as strong. This new album is more or less a mediocre version of those two albums. Also aside from Violent Revolution, I don't really care for the rest of their albums from the 90s and 2000s. (I think Renewal actually is pretty bad, though. It's their St. Anger but without the awful snare.)

I'm still giving the album a few more listens, but so far its a little under whelming. Not that its bad, its just since Phantom Antichrist the melodic element in Kreator has been growing with each release. Until now Kreator's generally good song writing (well minus Satan is real...) has helped the album still be listenable for those that don't want Melodic Thrash. I do like Midnight Sun, just wish they toned down the effects on Sofia's vocals.

In defence for Kreator, I liked this record because they finally did some experimentation. The previous records were just violent revolution revisited. I think Kreator should not be put in the same boat as Sodom and Destruction because those two are pretty limited to being Thrash while kreator have records even with Gothic influences. So they are not tied to a label like the other German thrash bands. And that's why I prefer Kreator over the others and over most of American bands as well.

Am I in a twilight zone episode? Because I fucking love this album. It's one of the strongest from their modern era. People have to accept that Kreator is split into two eras: the 5 classic masterpieces and the now 6 modern albums that are mostly very good across the board. Mille and Ventor are mid fifties and half their live set is already made up of the blazing classics. You simply can't go full throttle all the time. Kreator also tours a hell of a lot more than Sodom so they definitely have more mileage on their career in that regard. I love Sodom, but they seem to only come out nowadays to play the occasional festival and never full tours. Complaining about intro tracks? Pleasure to Kill had one too lol. Complaining about repeat choruses? Hordes of Chaos is probably the biggest offender there... The new album is consistently very good front to back. I felt Phantom Antichrist and Gods of Violence fall off in their second halves pretty hard. Kreator have been heavily melodic since Violent Revolution so I don't get the complaints that seem like this is some shocking twist to their sound. If anything, their use of melodies have improved a lot since 20 years ago. Whenever they get heavily melodic now, it at least feels more like Iron Maiden and other nwobhm and less like in flames. Violent Revolution and Enemy of God feel very much like melo-death.

Not a bad record but Kreator have explored the melodic thrash sound for 20 years now since Violent Revolution. And executed it better too on at least 3 of their 5 previous records. I would love for them to do something new.

I think there is plenty of new stuff on this album, that is the strength of it. Yes, there is a lot of melodic thrash in Kreator since Sami is in the band. But wasn t "Phantom Antichrist" and "Hordes of Chaos" brutal enough for you?

Kreator not putting out a stinker of an album? Blayne, I'm curious to hear what your opinion on Outcast is LOL. Very intrigued by Bekor Qillish. Also, for anyone interested in tech death and may have been let down by the recent offering fro Origin, I'm shouting out Exocirine and their album The Hybrid Suns on Unique Leader.

all things being equal, it's nearly impossible to take this review seriously when the reviewer keeps calling this album - 'hate über allies'. the title is 'hate über alles' (alles - everyone)...

This should've been a 7 song album. The first 4 (after the intro) are great!! Ditch ';Become Immortal' 'Conquer and Destroy' and 'Pride' or 'Demonic'. Midnight Sun is so weird it's growing on me and Dying Planet has a super cool Pestillence type riff and isn't a typical Kreator tune. I'd prefer to have those types of experimental songs than garbage like the aforementioned. Like many comments have noted, they're straying too far into cheesy epic heavy metal with some of their songs (like Fallen Brother and Hail to the Hordes). It's also a bit of a shame about some of these lyrics because Petrozza is an incredible lyricist) Oh well, It's still an enjoyable album with a bunch of killer tunes.

To me crush the tyrants and killer of Jesus were the worst songs… everything else was great. The chorus on those songs killed all their momentum for me and made them feel awkward for some reason. But those other songs you mentioned you didn’t like all sounded great to me…

@@tehCostHD I think it's mainly the cheese factor. Plus I just found them boring. TBH every song is damn catchy and Petrozza has become a genius in crafting songs that work well live which is why Become Immortal will probably go over great in a live setting. Like I said, this would've been an incredible 7/8 song album. But 11 tracks kinda ruins the flow IMO. I've had the album on repeat since day 1... I just skip those 2 songs heh heh

@@tehCostHD Totally agree. Strongest of the Strong is def a standout but for me, Dying Planet is my fav. It's such a non typical kreator song. It's totally got theses Pestillence 'Spheres' vibes. Looking fwd to seeing them live!

Alles, not Allies.. Oucast? It is a bit slick, and a bit repetetive, but I like it. That said, it's their weakest album since 2010..

This is definitely their weakest album in like 20 years (ever since they went back to the Thrashy sound). I feel like they deceived us with the title track, but ever since the singles I was worrying that they would expand on what didn't work on Gods of Violence and rehash some stuff that did work (and I was right). Disappointed, honestly.

Swap Kreator and Sodom and you have my take on things. I had issues with the Genesis XIX record. Terrible mix, 2 filler tracks and the rest of it was nice but not good enough for Sodom. Destruction's record, on the other hand was truly great! But I'm in love with this Kreator record. Raw production, great inspired melodies, dug the experiments on Midnight Sun and Dying Planet :)
