First he thought that he needed to get revenge for all the stuff and pain that G.U.N. Soldiers caused to him. While he was dealing with that, he was trying to understand if he was the real ultimate lifeform that was created or if he was a mistake. In the end, he understood that getting revenge wouldn't fix anything and he sacrificed himself to save the Earth. Shadow's character was written really good. I wouldn't make a joke about this game but I would make jokes for Shadow The Hedgehog 2005. He was an edgelord in that game lol. He was written very poorly.
