Just like in Sonic Adventure (which I think has a slightly "creepier" drowning animation due to his body floating to the surface). At least there it *could* be seen, though the player had to do something stupid like intentionally drown Sonic in the hotel pool. If only either Adventure game forced Sonic to go through water!

@@XaneMyers In Adventure 1 there was at least the stone snake area in Lost World, one could have reasonably drowned there, especially if you missed a jump after raising the water level a few times. Of course, there are also a few other pools in some levels, mainly as areas Big would use to fish, but the snake section is the only area I think one would qualify drowning to be a serious threat.

**Something else about Cosmic Wall!** I had to replay the game in a new save file, get the Bounce Bracelet as Sonic but not get the Ancient Light, and play the Dark Story all the way up to Cosmic Wall to unlock it. Reason being is that if you have the Ancient Light and charge up a spin dash, you immediately destroy the pyramids you need in order to continue the level.

In the GameCube version, if you use action replay to switch characters….the game is weirdly self aware in some cases and it modifies the levels so that say, Sonic can complete them. For the treasure hunting levels it’ll add goal rings so that you can just go to those to complete the level.

The trick to fighting artificial chaos is to jump near the center of him right in front of him, and then move slightly to the left or right to dodge the laser as you homing attack. The arms can't hit you when you're close to it because they only move in a circular angle. I think most people are so intimidated by the enemy they try to stay as far as possible, which is what causes you to get hit cause the arms have no problem with long range, it's just close range they have an issue with. So basically their weakness is to be a MAYUNN and get right up in its face for the jump kill. Once you know that trick, they'll probably never hit you again.

2:27 what happens here is actually quite simple: See, every character has a *main* boss, it being another playable character, basically, every hero characters main boss is their counterpart in the dark category. Example: Sonic's dark conterpart is Shadow, so Shadow is Sonic's main boss, same for Knux with Rouge and Tails with Eggman. In the Tails vs Eggman arena, the playable character in this case is Sonic, usually, Eggman is the boss, but only for Tails, so Shadow shows up instead, because it's Sonic's boss. So maybe this is how the game thinks: Sonic char= present Campaign level= not present Boss level= present= trigger char default boss Sonic char= present= boss level present= sonic char default boss= shadow Basically the game doesn't care what boss stage you're in, until specific character is present, the dark counterpart will be it's boss, no matter what. Same thing can be described with the dark characters on the things listed above, but the characters are inverted

Funny enough, I actually observed the character battle issue when I was playing around with the Character Select mod, myself. My assumption is that the character battles are kinda... all one type of thing, internally? i.e. they probably all use the same object to load the boss you fight, which is set to load not a specific character but the other Story counterpart of whoever you're currently playing as. HP and battle arena do seem to be stored separately, though. As a fun aside, my use of the mod somehow scrambled things and made the final boss fight of the Hero Story Rouge versus Knuckles rather than Sonic versus Shadow... and it worked? I had played as Sonic like normal through Final Rush, so I'm not sure how that happened, but Knuckles's AI actually functioned just fine in the final Sonic versus Shadow arena. He did exactly what you'd expect, and even used Chaos Control and his versus mode ranged attack (Thunder Arrow in his case) properly and under the expected conditions! It was interesting and kinda fun, honestly.

Since you're already using a mod to lock yourself as Sonic, I figured I might as well point this out. There is a randomizer for this game, and one of the things it does is not only randomize the order of the levels you play, but also randomize what character you play as. This means that absolutely any stage could be selected with Sonic/Shadow/any multiplayer equivalent. These levels will have minor modifications done to them (very minor things like allow the doors in Iron Gate to either be destroyed or not close at all when playing as somebody other than a Mech character) so they are guaranteed to be beatable no matter what character you're given. It also not only scrambles the cutscenes, but also which voice lines are used in the cutscenes. If you ignore the constantly-incorrect voice actors for the characters, you can end up with ridiculous plots when you try to make everything make sense. SomecallmeJohnny did a stream of the randomizer, and ended up with some insanity where Knuckles and Eggman were running for President, and Infinite just decides to show up in the past for whatever reason. Some bits almost seemed logical, like the Final Chase boss battle being done between Chaos and Tikal. (And yes, both characters were using the Knuckles/Rouge moveset, while still auto-running for the Final Chase battle like Sonic/Shadow normally would.)

I just wanna point out that using Action Replay codes on the GameCube version to force certain characters into stages they normally don't play _also_ loads their corresponding bosses instead of the expected ones. If I remember right, playing as versus mode characters also loads _their_ opposite, so playing as Amy loads Zero and playing as the Light Chao Mech loads the Dark Chao Mech, too. The game can only load pairs, for some reason. I did a whole thing about it for a certain popular _Sonic_ site, waaay back-in-the-day.

I do believe the bosses codes are attached to the playable characters's code. I.E. Sonic has Shadow boss code, Tails have Eggman boss code, Knuckles have Rouge boss code. And sometimes the boss behaviour can be attached to the zone, so he will be stay. So, probably, the solution for it is search for the boss code for each character and copy and paste to another character.

I’d say Sonic Adventure 2 is 1-2/3 Good in terms of its gameplay (the treasure hunting/mech-shooting stages can be a little frustrating, although most of the Knuckles stages before Death Chambers are a lot of fun, like Knuckles’ treasure hunting gameplay in SA1. But another thing about Adventure 2’s gameplay that is great is the speed stages!) and 2/3 good if you regard its smart story (especially the ending for being so emotionally packed)!

Yeah. You'd need to get iron from chests or golems in order to make a bucket, but after you get to the nether it would basically be the same as normal, just harder.

Yes. You realistically only need blaze powder and Enderpearls to craft Ender eyes and get into the end portal.

I played this game to death. Its my most played game of all time. I've got the file play counter to legitimately just stop, as it only counts to 999:59. I'm no speedrunner, but I'm fairly confident when I say I know my way around the game. Just thought I'd let you know that I was screaming at the video just about the whole time, particularly when crazy strats were used for problems with very simple solutions, most often just using the bounce bracelet to get higher for situations I KNOW wouldn't require a super bounce. Its probably just a matter of making for good content, but it hurt me on a spiritual level.

This was always my favorite Sonic game. Chalk it up to nostalgia if you want, but this one is by far the best Sonic game ever. The story, the music, the gameplay, everything is just amazing.

I respect Your opinion, however i politely disagree. Why yes, SA2 is an amazing game, SA1 just gave you much more freedom. SA2's levels were much more linear, which isn't a bad thing by itself. The speed characters were the only "great" part of the game. The mechs are alright even tho they control likes trucks. The treasure hunts are pretty darn bad imo, much more worse than SA1's. Both games have their ups and downs, (like SA2 somewhat removing the beloved spamdash.) Either way, these are my 2 cents, have a good day.

You can do prison lane with sonic only, you gotta use the superbouncs before you get "indoors" on the final corridor and ger out of bounds amd navigate falling blindy to the room with the goal.

5:20 There's a way to get out of this without getting shot by a G.U.N. robot. When you press action button while in homing attack, it gets cancelled, no idea why Sonic team added this but it works.

At the start of the video, I'm guessing for hero side you most likely will get stuck on pumkin hill, because the last emerald piece shouldn't be possible to obtain without digging, and I don't think it's possible for sonic to pick up the upgrade, perhaps one workaround would be obtaining the upgrade with knuckles first then trying it with sonic though, this would allow you spawn emerald pieces that you don't need to dig for. if you manage to get past pumpkin hill, there's king boom boo. You need to dig to kill him so you can't beat that. For dark, straight up I don't even think iron gate is going to be doable.

There would be plenty to do a video on, from bosses tp sun/moon coins, to stages, to Werehog combos. I also reccomend playing the ps3/xbox 360 versions, as they are generally better. I play on an Xbox One, and since its backwards compatibility, it runs at a solid 60fps
