Do not understand your mounting issue. If you are mounting it with the wings there are 2 holes in each wing attachment piece to mount to a board. Not only does this work, it has the advantage of allowing you to remove the main unit by sliding it free of the plastic mounts and use it with the clamp without the wings. Lots of time spent talking about a misunderstanding on your part, not an issue with Kreg's design. Also, slopiness in the wings is overcome by screwing them down, but as far a repeatable accuracy, I don't use pocket holes requiring that level of accuracy and am not sure I ever will. So far the stop on the wing has worked fine. Othe rthan those two issues, useful review, thank you.

Right on. Thanks for the comment. I made this video literally the day I received my pre-order 720. I've been told over the last year about my mistake in mounting. Originally, I thought you screwed the jig body down. After it was brought to my attention that it was an eyelet for mounting screws, and the jig slides on and off. That's when it all made sense. Also, as far as the repeatability with the side stop. I haven't used it either. Again, I was trying to be thorough with a new tool. I guess I had rushed to bethe first to get the video out. I always admit when I am wrong. No exception here. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.

Armor has a nice upgrade for your K4, it replaces the clamp. The clamp makes it almost as easy. You slide the bar to your piece of wood, and press the clamp down. I was very happy I bought the upgrade. Kreg Vacuum attachment works well too.

Thanks for the tip Scott. I'll have to look into that. I got the 720 because my K4 clamp is a little hard to close. I think I may have over tightened it and forced it closed. Now it difficult to work.

I recently bought the K5 only because it is a useful tool in building cabinet carcass. To be very frank, it is the most plasticky cheap feeling tool I have in the shop. They're riding on the name and branding while having cut nearly every corner possible. Truly a shame. I cannot wait till we have better competitors in the space.

I just got this, and I think they suggest mounting the little black block to the board, so that you can just pop the main unit on and off in order to use it for large pieces. Another idea I had which might work is to cut your mounting board off so that its even with the back and that way you could just flip it on its other axis for large pieces while still on the board. You cant move the storage pieces around for support of those large pieces, but Im lead to believe they are the thickness of a 2x4 so could likely just cut a couple short pieces of a 2x4 for support when needed? Good review, the engineers definitely left some on the table here.

Another thing you can do is turn the 720 over an drill you’re material laying flat. Could be handy for something like 2x12x10. You can drill your material standing vertical or laying horizontal. I like that option my self 🤷‍♂️

Page 9 of the ,annual clearly shows how you mount the jig to your work surface WITH the wings attached. Perhaps try reading the manual first. The guide on the back is for common plywood sizes, that are not exactly 1/2 or 3/4 inch thick.

Thanks @dar7771. I must say as cheap plastic as it is, I still find myself reaching for the 720 above the Massca and the Armor Tool. I think they are both made better. But, something about Kregs ease of use keeps me grabbing for it. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! 👍

Nice review. I think they're trying to keep the price point down to appeal to entry level customers. So, they cut a few corners. I think to improve upon the build quality of the K5 or K4, the price would be much higher. I wouldn't be surprised if an industrial strength "920" isn't already in the works. Another great innovation would be to eliminate the need to adjust the stop collar on the drill bit with automatic drill depth indexing on the jig itself.

Recently bought one also, and I have the same complaint about the wings that have too much play. That is what the holes are for, but they do a pretty bad job of securing the wings. If you screw them down too tight, they make the ends of the wings pop up above the surface. Kreg needed to include a screw hole on both ends of the wings.

If you're going to mount it AND attach the side compartments, there's no reason to keep those little wings attached. Thanks for the video I love the review but I’m wondering why you didn’t mounted on the wood 90° angle on the backside so that if you want to flip it to do a larger sheet the piece of wood won’t get in the way and the jig would lay flat

I recently saw a demo of this being done at at a Lowes store in Tucson Az. . The guy was a Lowes employee not a Kerg Rep ,He took a brand new unit out of the box and went thru the setup and showed the various options. He then took a couple of pieces of wood to join together and the Auto clamp broke , he laughed about the good return policy and then opened another New unit and tried it and it also broke on about the third time. So based on this I think I will keep my K4 and lookaround for a K5 as well if I can still find one.
