Hi, Portuguese here living in Denmark. Great tips, but I’d like to add that around here we usually open under the neck in a way that we can either zip the esophagus canal or simply bind it. Another way (my favorite) is to open all the skin under the e neck and actually cut under both sides of the tung- in both ways all the system is closed and when you pull it out through the rib cage, there is 0% risk of having som stomach fluids on your meat. Good hunting out there 😊👍🏻🦌

I use gloves because of an allergy to the fresh blood of deer and for the protection from any possible problems. Once fresh blood has cooled I have no problems processing the deer. People laugh at first when they hear about that "butt out" or the a hole remover gizmo. I know my buddies at deer camp did ("you stick it where?"). But I used it on my first deer and it's a great tool, makes things so easy. Mine is in blaze orange and I just have it clipped to the outside of the pack. I'm a late starter, didn't have anyone in the family who hunted, so I've only got one deer in about 10 years that I've been going. But I definitely carry the field dressing gloves and a trash bag. They weigh nothing and you stay clean and dry. Love the esophagus trick, will use it next time.

Man… I feel bad for ya that you never had anyone to show you and learning on your own … going 10 years with one kill may be more just bad locations … maybe try finding a good lease someone or reaching out to hunting clubs and making friends etc … can’t beat free meat and being outdoors too
@languagesource355Ай бұрын
@@hystorix9031 Thank you, but it's not all bad! I enjoy every moment outdoors! Last 3 years I've been going to northern Minnesota with a bunch of friends and it's a blast every time. And we always share meat, so I usually bring some, no matter my individual success. And it's far from free meat because nonresident license/tag end up being around $200, not counting travel. But camping in the northern woods in November is possibly the most enjoyable thing I've done in my life. I often comment that hunting there is just a bonus, I'd go even just for camping. If I wanted meat, I'd just buy some beef from local ranchers, and I do. Could've been worse: I could have never gotten into hunting at all :) This year I'm trying to get some friends to come over to my home state and explore public land close to my house. I've always hesitated going on public land by myself, so was limited to hunting a friend's property. But with a group I think we can explore and maybe get results. Our area is overpopulated with deer. Also, I try to introduce other friends who express the desire to hunt. Even though I'm not all that experienced, I take them shooting, teach them safety, scope zeroing, help them pick out their first rifle, and try to get them to go hunting if it's truly their desire. I never convince anyone or push them to go, because that can backfire. The person should truly want to go, then you can help him. The passion must be yours. The skills can be taught to you by other people. Without passion it's a waste of time and resources.

I've become a huge fan of skinning before gutting if possible. Then I can hose off any remaining hair before I cut open the cavity, and not having any fur on it when the messy job starts keeps me much cleaner since there is no blood soaked fur to contend with. With all that said, the process of field dressing is much smoother with this tip of cutting the esophagus from the start. Genius idea, that I honestly never thought of.

Brilliant trick on the esophagus! I typically saw the rib cage open, and then get cut by the sharp cut ribs when getting at the esophagus. On the allergy thing. I have to wear an N95 mask and gloves, and treat the deer like a hazmat item. The DANDER is the allergen here. For years I didn't connect the dander to my allergic reactions, just thought there was something in the woods in the winter that was getting to me, LOL. Also, we don't build a tolerance to allergens, we will just continue to be effected worse with each exposure. I keep an epi-pen on me in case I get exposed to much and my throat swells.

The stiff tube just below the skin in the neck is the trachea not the esophagus, just to lyk. Trachea is subject to suction during breathing so it has cartilaginous rings to keep it open. Thats why its somewhat stiff. Esophagus is behind the trachea and leads to the rumen, not the lungs. And is muscular but still more squishy than the trach

You cut around the urine exit and pull it through inside or you just cut urethra and make sure urine doesn’t leak inside?

Many times they empty the bladder when they die. I honestly don’t put a lot of thought into the bladder. Usually I feel like it comes out with everything else and then I do a double check to make sure it did.
