I LOVE Forbidden Planet, thanks for the reminder. It's amazing how creative people can be to create sounds/ambience when they didn't have the technology we have at our fingertips today. Quite interesting topic you have here today, and I liked your "spooky" music at the end of the video. Since you were talking about Arturia, anyone with the Collection, the Buchla Easel, Oberheim SEM and Moog Modular are great sources for bleeps and spacey ambience sounds.

Hi Richard - What's interesting about FP is the soundtrack and score merge into one. It's sometimes hard to tell where one ends and the other begins 😲 Yes, lots of great electronic sounds in Arturia's Collection. Wonder if I should try something more experimental 😱😄

And this is why I love this channel ❤😂 It’s such a special thing to find someone who has the same sense of crazy 🤣🤣 I’ll book you the next padded cell along. Krell music you say? Hmm 🤔🛸🤖

Thanks Chris, but I don't think they'll let me out of the cell I'm already in 😄 You need to embrace your inner Krell... 🤣

@@IanWaugh Forbidden Planet holds a special place for me. The first time I’d been scared of my wits was that ID monster. First off the thump thump thump, the stairs bending, the crane moving with nothing there. When it attacked the force field, and it’s outline could be seen 🐄💩. I saw The Fiend Without a Face soon after, and that did the same. The spooky music, and the sounds of the great machine working. My inner Krell is embracing me 👽😂

@@TheSemtexCow Well done! 😄 I can't remember how old I was but the Id Monster was definitely scary. Super movie 👍

I wondered what Ralph Vaughan Williams' "Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis" might sound like if the Krells had written it.

My impression from that composition is that it falls into the classification of being electronic music in the pure sense of the term than most of the material we’ve become accustomed to lumping in that category. Before synthesizer became a tool for generating electronic sounds, I think a lot of electronic music with no connection to Forbidden Planet sounded a lot like this. I’ve got a question as an aside, Ian. It relates to the Arturia Moog Modular. For somebody like me that is a total nodular novice, assuming I decided I wanted to take another gander at plug-ins, could that softsynth serve to help educate me as to what modular synthesis can do? Here’s something I did on this channel. kzbin.info/www/bejne/kJi9XnWDpJx7i7c

Hi Eric - Yes, before synths were a thing, the vast majority of electronic music was what we'd probably now call avant garde. In fact, I think the Barron's were doing that before they did Planet. Now, of course ALL music is electronic in some way 😊 Nice peice, can hear the JMJ vice 👍 Not sure what you're after. Any soft modular synth will offer a plethora of possibilities. But that assumes you're already familiar with synthesis. There are probably lots of tutorials out there to help but it is a massive subject. Software-wise, there VCF Rack which is free but takes a bit getting into. Softube also do a range - too many to choose from 😱

I could probably find what I’m looking for if I allowed the gear acquisition syndrome to win me over and I bought the B2600 module, @@IanWaugh. That model seems like the perfect introduction to real life modular synthesis coupled with the begin end all of it.Thank you very much for the compliment about my ditty.

@@Shred_The_Weapon Yes, the ARP was always on my wishlist. I have the B2600 but, alas, not done as much with it as I'd like, and definitely not as much as with the Grandmother. It's also quite affordable as far as semi-modulars go. There are many 2600 tutorials out there but I really like those by Ralph: www.youtube.com/@RalphBaumgartl

I think it could do with a bit of electronic alien "moaning" forbidden planet had quite a bit of that. You are off to a good start but the composition seems a little sparse and could afford to be bulked up a bit.
