Opinions are still divided on her abilities Pianists have for years, written music in the style of the greats-it’s an accepted pedagogical practice. And Liberace and Victor Borge have played popular songs in the style of their classical heroes So it could be she’s doing that!

the difference here is that she was just an ordinary uneducated person, she had only very basic training, and as a widow had to work full time to support her family. It doesn't seem credible that she this was simply a hoax.

13:37 when she started playing i just started crying, this is absolutely Chopin, i dont have any doubt

Judging from the ad for the Chevrolet Impala/Caprice at the end, I’d say this episode ran between 1973 and 1977.

01:08 Card Trick demonstration. 08:56 Rosemary Brown. 13:37 Rosemary plays a piece Chopin dictated to her... a Polonaise. 17:18 Kreskin plays some piano as a prelude to a forty song random pick.

fascinating, after hearing the polonaise, it's hard to doubt the authenticity of her claim. You can see the technical skill isn't there but you can't copy the style that well especially without rudimentary training.

to me, this is not Chopin : too simplified, uninspired, perhaps nice melodies but no musical inspiration, no "musical spirit" (no musical story, if you prefer) ; style-wise, huge problems (i.e. unchopinistical) with tonal transitions ; rather a mixture of a chopinistic style with the musical taste of early 20th century ; sorry to disappoint some !.. @@@herculesraphaelolimpio3569

@@marcgovaerts644 For arguments sake, and I’m not a true believer here, but if Chopin is somewhere else, still composing music, isn’t it probable that his style would have evolved over time?
@FrostDirt3 жыл бұрын
@@antonioaranio3568 his style would've evolved to late Romantic a la Rachmaninoff and Scriabin or even late Liszt

That she can even play such a difficult piece by Chopin with complete mastery without training is miraculous.
@JohnBolenderАй бұрын
It means that she did have training. She was probably a musical Elmyr de Hory, although it may be that she tricked herself into believing it was all real. Perhaps she felt less alone that way.

Does anyone know where I can find the sheet music of the Polonaise that Miss Brown is playing? I've been searching desperately for it everywhere but I can't find it. It's such a beautiful piece and I really would like to play it, so if anyone has the score, please please share!

I'd forgotten about the 'Amazing Kreskin'. I read his book years ago. I never understood why someone with super developed senses had to wear milk-bottle bottom glasses. It seems he's got contact lenses here.
