Growing up as a Muslim, I went through similar experiences as Stic did! Yea, I used to go to mosque But the mosque didn't quench my thirst Mama taught me to put allah first And she always tried to block my search I was curious, young but serious Why is religion so mysterious? Why is black life so hard? They say you're not supposed to question allah Well, is it okay to question the imam? Was it passed down from the slave-master? It was only the truth I was after But I never could get a straight answer So I couldn't relate to the khutbah Put down the koran, then I start learning About life, didn't know where the path would lead But I had to get off my knees!

'cause unlike major record companies, Dead Prez doesn't pay the radio stations for their air time. It's all a business, it's all about money and who's willing to pay the highest price to be heard - exactly why artists speaking truth sit back and make music, they know it will be heard and shared.

This is one of my favorite songs. Great message. I'm am about unity and love. Most churches end up focusing on intolerance and judgment. I am a devoted Christian that believes you don't need any man to find God. "Your way may not be my way, but its ok." Much love and respect to all my fellow men and women, especially my Muslim brother's and sisters which are the focus of so much undeserved hate and misunderstanding. Peace be with you.
