After watching this interview my appeciation of Kris Kristofferson has been forever changed. He talks completely from the heart, is humble and good humoured. There can never be interviews with actors like this today or film directors like Sam Peckinpah or artists like Kris

Oh me too, I just watched the full remastered version the other day and I enjoyed it much more than the wild bunch, it was so poetic and intuitive/ romantic, it was like a sensory experience for me. Could you pls recommend some other Westerns with similar vibes? I tried watching one eyed jacks, which was good in parts but it didn’t have nthe same effect as garret and the kid. I know I need to rewatch garret and kid with the version you mention, I’ve since read how the recent versions by the studios are pretty dum, wish I’d known that first.

Kris always wanted to be a Revolutionary, I think, and I'm not the only one, who felt that way. Waylon said, "I honestly think that if Kris ever finds out that Leonard Peltier was Guilty, it would kill him dead" For the young folks, In 1973, the town of Wounded Knee South Dakota was seized by Indian Activist who held it for 71 days Peltier was the leader of the "Occupation Of Wounded Knee", where a bunch of Indian(Native American) activists took over some buildings that belonged to The Own/ BIA(Bureau Of Indian Affairs) and, eventually by a group of "Hippies" and activists, some say Peltier was there, but no proof was ever found, but other members of AIM(American Indian Movement) were present and a few were among the various Leaders. after 71 days The Feds broke the Occupation & scattered the Occupiers, but for years afterward people were killed, who were on both sides of the argument about the election of the Ogalala Tribe President. Some said "Fair", and some said "Stolen", and the dissension continued , until in 1975 two FBI Agents were killed in a shootout on the Pine Ridge Reservation. Peltier was arrested and convicted in 1976. His sentence was Life, and his next Parole hearing will take place in 2026(50 years after his conviction) Folks are as divided about Peltier's Guilt or Innocence, as they were about the Tribal Election that started the whole mess in 1973. Peltier is seen by many (Kristofferson Included) as a Political Prisoner, whose imprisonment was more about Politics than his guilt or Innocence.......Both Kris and Peltier are getting long in the tooth and Peltier Maintains His Innocence, while the Government Maintains His Guilt, so it's likely that Kris will never know for sure whether one of his Freedom Fighter Heroes is Guilty or innocent, and that's probably Best at this late date> My bet is that Peltier will die in prison. Uncle Sam appears to be Holding A Big Grudge over the Deaths of two of his Agents, and won't ever set him free unless he Confesses to the Killings and apologizes, and That Peltier will not do. His whole Life has been dedicated to his Pleas Of Innocence, but that's just my guess

I always loved Bob Dylan's soundtrack to the movie. Of course, Knocking of Heaven's Door is a great song, but apart from that piece, the whole album upon repeated listenings, grows on you. It's ambient music before ambient music came along. It's a kind of understated glorious melancholy epitaph to the west.

And I do remember quite well Dylan personally insisted at the time that the record of the soundtrack bore the following mention : "Dedicated to Sam Peckinpah" (written on the back cover).

Will the full Michael Deeley interview be uploaded? It’s kinda hard to find information on the production of ‘Convoy’, obviously not a great experience for many but as Kris alludes to in this interview it’s certainly one of Sams more beloved films and has quite the cult following, no matter what anyone might think about it.

I will upload the Michael Deeley interview soon. By the way, the documentary 'Passion & Poetry - Sam's Trucker Movie' (also with Michael Deeley) gives good insights on the making of Convoy. Here's the link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/j53EmZqQadOgqsk

Tales of movie makers and making of the past are rich in folk lore of Old West-type, so many of them un-made movies in themselves steeped in characters on and behind the camera, familiar faces lived out the decades on the screen drifting from other professions unlike today graduates of acting academies, the writers, directors overloading on film schools, all reason why those yesterday flics failing spectacularly at the box office now revered as classic.

20:28 Why is he pissing himself laughing about Emilio begging Sam to let Kris's character hit the woman playing the rape victim?
@KClouisville
@KClouisville 6 ай бұрын
That's a pretty common reaction to an extreme idea, feeling or person on occasion. If a woman were actually struck or something and he was laughing about it then it'd be a different story.

CONVOY should have been Rightwing. If it had; it would be immortal. Unfortunately, at best, it was faintly ridiculous. Like Ali McGraw with an afro…
