In my opinion, nobody sings Kris' songs better than Kris does himself and that goes for the likes of this or "Me and Bobby Mcgee". He might not have a pure vocal sound but its honest, soulful and matches the music he writes perfectly.

An amazing songwriter, I remember him as the youngest member of The Highway Men. Kris would write a new song and had to stand back while the more famous members of the band would take turns singing the vocals. He played guitar and was thrilled to be a part of this classic band. The man is so talented and gracious, a true legend for sure. 💖

Absolutely the best version ever; better than his earlier versions, and far better than any others who have covered it. Age, experience and a single acoustic guitar really hammer home the story. I can believe that he was recalling such a time in his life; it has such sincerity.

Kris Kristofferson is the most honest, talented , complex ,poetic songwriter I've ever heard . The quietness in the audience says it all. If this doesn't move you, you aren't movable. He was the most isperational force in songwriting and l love the man even though love never met him

As we know, Kris wrote this song and somehow delivered it to the late, Johnny Cash. I could understand John Cash helping Kristofferson get the song recorded. Instead, perhaps with Kristofferson's approval, Johnny Cash recorded the song, first, on his label. Later, much later, Kris was able to claim the song as his own, and recorded it. Also, just in time for Christmas gift giving, Johnny Cash's first wife, Vivienne Cash, has a book on shelves for sale, now. Many surprises written by the first Mrs. Cash. Another item, which may, or may not be, in this book, is the fact that Johnny always seemed to take credit for the song, "Ring of Fire." He did, indeed, record the song. However, it was pinned by his second wife, the late, June Carter Cash in collaboration with another song writer. June, according to movie facts, began writing the song, as she found herself falling in love with an extremely talented, yet somewhat troubled man, her friend, Johnny Cash.

@arjhendrix4 жыл бұрын
Well I woke up Sunday morning with no way to hold my head, that didn't hurt. and the beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad so I had one more for dessert. then I fumbled through my closet for my clothes and found my cleanest dirty shirt. and I shaved my face and combed my hair, and stumbled down the stairs to meet the day. Well I smoked my brain the night before with cigarette and songs that I'd been a pickin' But I lit my first and watched a small kid cussin' at a can that he was kickin'. Then I crossed the empty street and caught the Sunday smell of someone fryin' chicken. And it took me back to somethin' that I'd lost somehow somewhere along the way. On the Sunday morning sidewalk, wishin', Lord, that I was stoned, 'Cause there's something in a Sunday makes a body feel alone. And there's nothin' short of dyin' half as lonesome as a sound, on the sleepin' city side walks. Sunday mornin' comin' down.. In the down. In the park I saw a daddy with a laughing little girl that he was swingin'. And I stopped beside a Sunday school and listened to the song that they were singin'. Then I headed back for home, and somewhere far away a lonely bell was ringin', And it echoed thru the canyon like the disappearing dreams of yesterday. ===========================
