Are you hep to: Barry's 6th and diminished scale in the key of "C" ((C,D,E,F,G,G#/Ab,A,B) 1,2,3,4,5,b6,6,7) can also be used with a I (Root/Key) Augmented chord C+ ((C,E,G#) 1,3,#5) , Cmajor7#5 ((C,E,G#,B) 1,3,#5,7) , Am7 first inversion, with A being the root ((C/E,G,A) 1,b3,5,b7), AmMaj7 ((A,C,E,G#) 1,b3,5,7) or, for the case of Barry's explanation, the I tonic 6th chord C6 ((C,E,G,A) 1,3,5,6), and the II diminished 7th chord ((D,F,Ab,[Cbb]/B) 1,b3,b5,bb7, usually referred to as dominant because it stems from the V chord in the harmonized scale; When inverted with a b9 accidental, ((G,B,D,F,Ab) 1,3,5,b7,b9 becomes G7b9 second inversion ((D/F,Ab,G,B) for piano. In most jazz circles, it was merely played as a rooted or rootless 7b9 chord for guitar. So Am7, G7b9. This is also where the origin of the ii,V,I progression was utilized with dominant 7th chords in sounding like you knew how not to play your instrument by using modal interchange. L.abor O.f L.ove...

Hi Kris. My local music store has the P45 for sale at 499. But I bought a Alesis Recital. Mainly for the light weight. And easy transport to and from jams. It is the white model. But will have to use my phone to download the owners manual. The Yamaha and Alesis both are the same because they use the keys for transpose, reverb etc.

I've been playing Assisted Living Facilities for several years and I got the CASIO PX-160 day one! It ROCKS. I play classical music and ragtime and the sound is AMAZING. I have practically stopped ever using a facility's piano (even BRAND NEW Baby Grands). Thrilled with the feel of the action and the sound is spot on for a Bosendorfer (that was the main sampling). I have played on a Bosendorfer in Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis...AMAZING. Only problem is it is far north of $100K!!

The Casio notes just have better clarity, they appear to be able to breath better than the Yamaha notes. Not sure why that is, considering the source for the Yamaha samples, but the Casio just generally sounded better in real life.

First of all, you play amazingly well. Like I was thinking about bringoing my crap back to the store. Hats off to ya! I have a PX and its great feel and the acoustically is fine but there is something about the analog out that just sounds electronic. I have been thinking about running it thru an eq to cut a little 3K or something, then I tried a buddy's yamaha at a jam and it sounded great. Casio wins on feel and sound details but that thing I'm hearing is making me nuts. Anyone else get that when you plug in? I have wondered if it is the fact that the yamaha is a line out but the casio is a headphone out. Any thoughts?

Does anybody know what type of speakers he's using? I'm thinking of getting a p45 but can't get any straight answers anywhere on what speakers to buy. The Casio px 160 is hands down the best value if you're a beginner. Best action for the money. When you get as good as this guy only then look to spend more money on a high end piano. Then keep the Casio as a nice rehearsal piano. Never spend too much money when you're a beginner. No golfer buys top of the line clubs to learn on. Neither should you buy an expensive piano when learning.

@p3rrypm
@p3rrypm 7 жыл бұрын
Lukas Sprehn Yes, you are! The Yamaha keys feel like they're partially weighted, the Casio feels fairly close to the genuine article. I realize this is old, but thought I would comment for the sake of those researching. As much as I think the Casio is the better sounding, I'm leaning towards the P-115 myself, as it has optional Bluetooth and the ability to control the device from an iPad.
@charlieguo7353
@charlieguo7353 7 жыл бұрын
The casio is also MUCH more affordable. I personally don't like the sound of the Yamaha px series at all...for me as a pianist, Casio has much better expressive capabilities especially for more advanced level playing at 1/3 the price. However, the material it uses is still cheaply made, so prone to wear and tear.

I have owned both, ( and sold both), and I have to say that the keys are both clunky and make a lot of noises when you play on both, I would honestly avoid them both. ( the casio was worse). Look for something newer instead as the newer technology is much better. ( these are both older technologies and key mechanisms) . The best thing you could do is to go and try several digital pianos at a music store. By the way, Kris is an amazing piano player, he could make any piano sound good, I could only dream of playing a tenth as good as him, mabey someday.
@ayrtoninchejanampa6874

Both are inexpensive pianos and they will not withstand very demanding things, for a better key action you have to go yes or yes for more expensive mid to high range keyboards.

A fairer comparison would be the Casio CDP-135 against the Yamaha P-45 as they are both the lowest in each respective brand's pecking order. The Casio PX-160 really should be compared to the Yamaha P-125; they are the both the second model up. Oh yes, loved the All In The Family closing credits theme too!

You can throw a 70 dollar keyboard to this guy and still sounds the same. Okay enough searching for the best keyboard let’s go back practicing lol

Cebu2Japan you still need a good keyboard, for example if you want a keyboard that has 88 keys you’ll spend at least 400 (usually comes with touch sensitive keys). With a bad keyboard that only has 61 keys and non touch sensitive keys, you won’t be able to play most pieces.
