Good points. I actually felt scared when I used to record live sessions in night clubs and let me say, there is times when there is dark places. Later I learned about the low light prime lenses and I fixed the problem. Now I am getting big on setting up lights for live private recording sessions. And this video has helped me alot.

Thank you for this! I have a question about the sound. How do you capture the sound from each person? Mic or instrument? I want to shoot a video like this but I’m afraid that the sound will not be right. 😊
@mikegiamberardino13352 жыл бұрын
You have to make sure that you all the audio recorded separate and edited/mixed. If audio isn't your expertise it is worth it to work with someone who will be able to focus on the audio recording and mixing for you to sync with your video. Make sure to record audio on your cameras though for easier syncing in post.

When you do single camera setups like this, how is the audio usually recorded? Are the artists doing playback to a pre-recorded track or are they performing and recording live? If the audio is recorded, how do you match audio and video once you cut everything together? I mean it does not make sense to close up on the fingers of the guitarist during a solo and actually hear a solo from a different take, right?

How did you record the audio for the live performance?
@davidc58854 жыл бұрын
When it comes to syncing the music, are you choosing just one "live or previously recorded live" audio track? This part is the only part I can't wrap my head around. Are you using the actual music from the live performance or are they giving you a track and then you sync it that way with the live? I hope this isn't confusing lol.
@progfoxmusic4 жыл бұрын
As long as they're playing to a click track so each take is technically the same length and structure, you can just do a couple of takes, sync up the stuff that's actually diagetic. Harder to do on one camera with multiple people as there's some room for improv (drums for example can be a bit more free flowing than say guitar, which, unless it's a solo or something pretty much HAS to be the same thing because that's how the song actually is).
@avationmusic4 жыл бұрын
i do my own videos like this and you can use both, but i prefer to use the live version i record when filming because then it syncs to the millisecond and doesn’t require any extra cutting/editing
@lobos91825 жыл бұрын
Amazing, can you make more, or where can i learn more of this? Do they repeat the song a lot of times, or is it one time shoot?

Hi Kris, Thanks for this wonderful piece. I'm a newbie hobbyist videographer and I recently got a small gig for a live recording like this, and I'd like to know how you were able to effectively capture the audio. Did you just get the audio from the studio and slapped it over the video, or you had your audio plugged in from one of the studio's audio mixer to reduce the stress of post production?

i have a question how do u record sound? and when you change angle or person how do u line up the video with the audio? if your using one camera?
@Kriscoart2 жыл бұрын
Hey! Good question. Usually the cameras are synced up to one main audio recording. So if the artist wants the video to be based off the original song we use that or if they want a live session recording (as was in this case) the artist will record the live session and use the best take of that. So still one audio track to sync everything else on

How do you edit multiple takes of the same song played in a live session and make sure the audio matches? Even the best musicians will have some slight variance in their timing on each take. Thanks!
@rebeccagirouard77383 жыл бұрын
Hey! From my experience, a click track allows for multiple takes of "B Roll". The first take is live and the "A Roll". It is very important to get as much usable "A Roll" as possible. The musician(s) have a click track in their monitor, which allows for maintaining the same tempo for all footage.
