Get the Roland JU-06A: krisoneil.comp...
Recently got the JU-06A by Roland (I've wanted an original Juno since I started producing), and wanted to make up an entire deep house/progressive/80s synth wave (or whatever you'd like to call it), just using this one synth. Hope you find it useful :)
If you have any questions, let me know!

I had the Juno-6 in the early eighties, just order the JU06. I have the JX08 that has impressed me. Taking new synth for a comparison with the "originals" is not the right attuitude to electronic music. After all, embracing new ideas and sounds is what makes the art of electronic music what it is. But I must admit, the JU06 sounds damn close to the Juno6 which hits my nostalgic sweet spots.

Roland should pay you for this brilliant track ...as it highlighted the the potential of this little boutique synth...I passed on this one only because I dont like the mini jacks and usb power source....
@KrisONeil
@KrisONeil 4 жыл бұрын
Glad you like the track - and feel free to send your suggestion to Roland, haha! :) I would have preferred 2 normal jacks as well, but I see how it would take up a lot of space, in a small unit. And to be honest, once the minijack cable is plugged in, I don't even think about it anymore. I actually find the USB-power quite handy - it's indeed much more neat in my studio, than the ton of big power supplies. I think it's mainly a matter of haibt :) Thanks again for the kind words!

To be honest we all have a lot of gripes about the poly and connectors, I'd like a hardware chorus and analog filter thrown in too but if you are even remotely interested in the Juno sound then you might as well buy one and sell it when they release a professional edition. What will you lose, 50 quid at the most and in the meantime you could be having some fun with the unit and remember you can record crystal clear digitally via usb so it doesn't matter that much regarding the limitations when it comes to recording. I wasn't going to buy one for all the reasons you listed but in the end gave in.

Your video was an inspiration for buying the JU-06a! Way better than the official one! I got one 3 days ago and is truly amazing. BTW do you send the patches to the DAW via MIDI/USB to have the patches you made with the DAW project file, or the only way to do this is making a backup from the JU-06a and loading the patches every time you are working with a song, like an old school music production?

@KrisONeil
@KrisONeil 3 жыл бұрын
I haven’t tried just using the USB port for audio, but on Rolands website it says “USB Port: MicroB type (Audio, MIDI)”, so potentially it can get the audio just via USB. If I remember correctly, you can use the unit as a soundcard as well, so you probably can do some routing to get the audio out without using the actual audio output.

Glad you like the video! :) I've never played around with the JU-06, so I'm not entirely sure how big the difference is (other than you can switch between the 60 and 106 on this one). Always nice being able to play them at the same time though :)

@@KrisONeil how do you sync the tracks with each other? I just transfer the sound to Logic Pro via USB but as sound it self, not as information. I wonder if it's possible to get the sounds of the Juno in Logic Pro, but being able to modify the notes and its length within the software, kinda the same way you do when you create a new software track and add the notes manually and then iterate over the different instruments. I want to write the music on the software, click note by note, and then plug in the Juno and its power to provide the sound. Makes any sense? Was hard to write.
