Wow. For me you nailed it. I have always lacked self confidence in my style. Self confidence in general. I want to be edgier, a tad bohemian...freer. For years I have dressed like a matronly school girl! I have a decent figure and am not unattractive, but fear drawing any attention. But, the older I get the bolder I get! I love that about aging!

Woohoo! I love that! I'm so glad you're getting bolder and braver with age!! So cool how that works. 🎉

This is so true we’re so influenced by others for so much of our life. When i look back at the ppl we thought dressed “weird” we then realize, wait, they were actually the confident ppl that dressed how they wanted and went against the norm. lol Even when i look back at when i was an adult working in an office for years i only wore what i thought was acceptable and not whati really liked; now I can’t stand office wear. Idky i would see stuff in magazines that i liked but i would never really try to copy that style, almost as if i wasn’t good enough to dress like that. I’m really trying to build a capsule wardrobe and have the confidence to wear what i like. Thx

Thank you for sharing! All so true! It's interesting how the idea that we're somehow not 'good enough' to dress a certain way is so common. You're well on your way to a wardrobe you love! Great work! 💘

I made the decision to wear my style even being one number up because of menopause issues. I’ve done exactly as you said, put some pieces away till my goal is achieved ( one number down). Arms accumulated fat and wearing my blazers and shirts was not comfortable. Specially emotionally speaking . I decided to workout an diet seriously. But, my GO TO lazy minimalist outfits are sooo good to me today, always putting a stylish edgy shoe I feel great and fresh.

Exactly! So well-said. And... if your go-to outfit makes you feel good, that's definitely not 'lazy'! That's smart and intentional. Great work! 🥰

Once again, you really uncovered some truths that are not so easily understood. Loved the conversation on perfectionism. Thanks for all this, going to work on unmade decisions...with self compassion!

Thank you! And I love that you mentioned self compassion!! Yes! That's so important when doing this work. Good luck! You've got this! ☺️

Absolutely Wow!!! You nailed it for me too!! Years ago I culled everything I didn't love and felt more confident than ever. I've lost my confidence in pursuit of perfection. I've been so disgusted by my body that I've not been able to see what works and that I can actually cull over half my wardrobe and have a wardrobe that works again! Really excited and motivated to get up tomorrow morning and let go of all of the things and fear of letting go! Thank you so much Kristen!

It's amazing to me how comments from a few kids at school can wound us. I feel you, I can't cut my hair shorter because of a bad haircut when I was younger. I 'm 55 now and feel paralyzed by the thought of cutting my hair to a bob length even though I really think I would like that. Thanks for your video!

It's about your clothes and it's a metaphor for outside of it too.

Truth! I always find it fascinating how clothing mirrors the rest of a woman's life pretty clearly. 💕

Ah, this video was the perfect prompt for. The bit about not making a decision being part of perfectionism really hit home. I just placed an order for a bunch of new running gear because I recently started exercising way more and I realised that my workout clothes are old and tired and not functional. Kept feeling disappointed and stressed when I got ready but also was unsure whether or not to "invest" in the new stuff. But thanks to this I've ordered more of what I need and can then clear out the old frayed pieces once they arrive. Next step is evaluating my winter wardrobe too. Thanks Kristen!

Yay!! Happy new running clothes! I'm sure you'll feel the difference on your first run in the new gear. Thank you for sharing this. So many of us can relate! 💖

Just discovered your channel and your psychological take really resonates with me! Where I get stuck is questioning whether what I love and feels authentic is also "flattering." Is the subjective experience of feeling beautiful and authentic ultimately more important than looking objectively attractive? My appearance was often criticized growing up and although I'm much more confident now, I know I still carry some of that around. Anyway, thank you for the great content and happy new year! 🎉

Welcome! Thank you for watching. The mindset component of style is so fascinating to me! I'll address your comment in a future video as I believe this topic is so important. We have been conditioned to believe that our clothing must make us somehow look 'better' or improve our appearance in a way that society has decided is appropriate/expected. Otherwise it's not acceptable. So many flaws in that. Happy to unpack this! Stay tuned... Thanks again for being here. 💖

Loved your talk! It describes what happened to me this week when i made some decisions about my wardrobe, The decisions helped me when I went through my closet and choose a couple of items to purchase - after realizing I needed them. Thanks for articulating my experience. you are so right about how good it feels to make the decision and take a few steps,
