reminds me the story of that one eritrean guy. he was a soldier in the Italian colonial army in ww2, when italy owned most of the horn of africa, and he fought against the Ethiopians. He had joined the army because Ethiopia had done some bad shit to eritrean families, including his, when he was little. When the war ended and Italy withdrew, this fellow obviously stayed back, apparently went to Somalia. twenty or so years later, during the UN intervention in the somalian crisis, Italian UN units were placed there. They were surprised to meet this one guy who did the "old salute" and said "took you Italians so long to come back! anyways, lets go kick some Ethiopian ass!" he was awarded Italian citizenship. Undoubtedly Italy's most loyal soldier, and he wasnt even from Italy
