You may well have already solved this challenge by now, given three years have elapsed! But just in case not (and for anyone else watching this video in 2023) a useful bit of intel is resin _pigments_ will serve you far better than resin tint. For a couple of tiles like this, one drop of resin pigment in your cup of resin should be _ample_ to achieve the depth of colour you need. The other thing about using pigments as opposed to dye is that they aren't fugitive, so your colours won't fade in daylight (which will definitely happen to alcohol inks and anything else dye-based). Stumbled upon your YT via your blog thanks for the post on creating a floating box frame!

Coloring the tiles was very helpful to watch. Glad you found some tiles already the color you like. Less work and time invested.

So this may be crazy but the Cadillac Escalade comes in a gorgeous teal color. I don't know the year of the model. Have no idea if you could use automotive paint but wanted to let you know.

I wonder if you start with a blue or green tile and add resin, if you may like the end result better? I love the top and bottom tiles in the thumbnail. But I love blue with a bit if real and you love real with a bit of blue! Lol

I love your project. I'd like to know if you had some problems with the resin when you grout the tiles. Did the tiles lose some resin or colour? Thanks.

Nope, the tiles came through perfectly fine. You just have to make sure to use unsanded grout. Sanded grout will scratch the resin.

Hi again. Can you tell me how you got the excess resin off of the tiles. It looks like they are sitting on the tray. Did you have something underneath them to allow for dripping? How long did they take to be movable and fully cure?

You can clearly see at 11:01, that the tiles are raised up from the tray, balanced on something that we can't quite see, so the excess resin will have dripped off. Even so, it's a really good idea after you've poured resin - whether on a tile or canvas - at the 30 minute and one hour stages, to run around the underneath edge of your substrate with a fine stick to pull off any drips of resin to save yourself a whole bunch of pain sanding after it's finally cured. After about an hour it will probably have stopped moving, so you won't be getting any more drips at that point, unless you live in a particularly hot climate or are using very thin resin. In essence, just keep an eye on it and keep wiping the drips away until your resin stops moving. In terms of how long it takes to cure, the answer is it depends. Most resin will be easily cured within 24 hours, many resins cure, in less than that time - you can even get a resin that cures in four hours I believe. And of course there is always the option of UV resin which cures on exposure to ultraviolet light in about two minutes. If you're making something bendable like a bowl, you start off with a flat piece of resin which you can then demould in about 4 to 6 hours and while it's not set, it is malleable enough for you to mould it into the shape you want to make - like a bowl or a vase. Hope that's helpful.
