From Bach´s Goldberg variations to Swedish folk music the step seems long, perhaps. No it isnt. It can easily be proved by such great musicians as this. From Bach Aria to a folktune from Hälsingland. Yes, sure a sort of medley, but in musical terms quite correct.

Improvisation is what makes good music great, and any music interesting. I don't think any folksong, played anywhere, at any time, could not be improved with some improvisation.

@@williambradford7150 Of course you are right, improvisation is the root in folk music. But in swedish folk music improvisation was for a long time very limited, at least in traditional folk music. Some triols, perhaps an unusual second chord. But with modern folk music this has opened up. As we can hear in this uptaking. Ale Möller is for us swedes a giant in this opening up.
