Nebraska Huskers seems to have burned a few of those sports fans last weekend in Ireland. They were favorites to win, and didn't deliver.
@academicmailbox77982 жыл бұрын
On the upside, I heard on radio last Saturday. The internet connection went down in the soccer stadium they were playing in. And the concessions stand just decided to pour the beer for free (the 'payment' system for cards wouldn't function without the internet). I guess, they couldn't expect the Americans to come all of that distance. And not have a beer while watching college football. Hot dogs in Dublin were free with the beer. One of the Irish guys who showed up to look at the American football. Had never got a free drink in his hometown in fifty years. So he was super impressed. The whole drive or push now with sports. Is to convince folks, that it makes sense to fly and travel again (Aer Lingus had sponsored the Michigan guys to come over and play match here). In fairness, I think if the airlines don't get the business ramped back up again. They'll circle the drain too. Nice to see the folks enjoying Sweden (the Swedes a lot of them go to Norway at this time of year for salmon). Which is kind of odd, as they go 'night' fishing there. And it's broad daylight, while throwing large spoons and stuff. The 'Kola' penninsula was the key attraction for the hard core salmon guys, since the collapse of USSR decades ago. And that area's back again, in disputed territory (a new 'front' in this kind of conflict going on). True, all of that. True. I still have VCR tapes from when Jim Vincent from Idaho made his first fishing tours to there (back when Pierce Brosnan was still acting as 'double-O-seven').
@academicmailbox77982 жыл бұрын
The problem with this fishing business. Is if you hang around in it for long enough. You get to see just about everything. The beginning, the end, the in-between and everything. And it confirms only one fact. Life is weird.
