How many of these did you already know about? How many of these methods have you actually used? I'm curious how many of you actually do this because building a new PC these days is WAY too expensive.

I have built 2 pc's so far, not experienced, but a huge resource for me was pc part picker. It let's you pick every part of a pc and tells you whether it's compatible with each other as well as multiple retailer prices new. Once I figured out what I wanted I shopped on ebay, Facebook marketing, etc. for deals I also ended up swapping parts of my predicted build on the site for the deals I found with specific models, bought power supply, case, and ram new, and found the rest elsewhere, a 2100$ build I saved 300$ on and thevl other was a 1500$ build where I only bought the power supply new and saved 400$ on. I think it's a really good resource for newbies who don't know what they are doing/ what they are looking for.

@@gameseeker6307 normally when your in the pc building space for a while you start to pick up what goes with what, now with youtube you can do some of your own research and look for recent videos by content creators that specialize in making pc builds and see what each person is recommending. @@gameseeker6307 I know I am a month late, but looking up a cpu or gpu's performance in games (that are bottlenecked to the part you are looking at. Cpus should have gpu utilization below 90% while for gpus this utilization should be at or above 96%, this metric can be spotted near the fps counter on a third party application like fraps) if you see a part and it gets acceptable fps in a game (while it is the bottleneck) and you find another part similar in performance at your wanted quality settings, they should be a good match. at least in the games you saw them benchmarked in. If you play esport titles like CS2, val and the forbidden game LOL. you would like a better cpu than gpu, while for AAA games like Cyberpunk, Alan Wake and Immortals of Aveum you will typically see them requiring better gpu over cpu. It depends on the game you are wanting to play. for an esports title you could see a Ryzen 5 5600/intel i5 13600 with an rx 6600 or rtx 3060, for a AAA game you could see a ryzen 5 5500/intel i5 12400 with an rx 6750 xt or rtx 3070 ti.

I really learned a lot from you and i even build my first PC like in 2019 and i took help from your guide for beginners like you have been a part of my PC life. And coincidentally i rebuild a new PC (took break from PC gaming and stuff) and i got notified that u uploaded a video and realizing it might be your last makes me want to cry. I find the biggest downside to eBay is that you will generally pay more, sometimes A LOT more, but with eBay you have the best buyer protections short of just buying something new. Sadly, in my local area, most people are asking eBay prices or higher. However, one criticism... you talk about risking damaging parts on a used power supply, and then use an F tier new power supply? I would trust a used Corsair HX750i WAY more than I would trust one of those. I've seen more than a few cook themselves. Just saying... I don't disagree about buying new over used, but I wouldn't put that power supply in anything. Especially when you can find a C tier 80+ bronze unit for like $10 to $15 more. It's worth it.

🙂 the problem is that most content creators either forget to mention the PSU TIER LIST or they think the list is fake, but yes I just checked and theres a few Tier C power supplies for 50 to 60 bucks all day long and not even on sale. Also nobody talks about picking up a Watt Meter and measuring watts and calculating watt consumption of your cpu and video card

Great video Kris. Glad that you still making contents for PC building. As a system builder myself I think your guide is great. 1. i7-4790 is a solid choice. I still have a system that use the same CPU, I moved to Ryzen 5 system a year ago and gave to my little brother who still use it for light gaming. That old Dell Tower also still has commons connector and PSU not like OEM builtup PC nowadays. I intended to buy that Dell case maybe for future sleeper PC project. 2. $100 1650 is a decent grab but yeah maybe if you were not rushed you can grab 1060 or 1660 for a little bit more, but again you would need to upgrade the PSU. 3. Yup the 720p gaming is not that demanding... I rem I was playing 720p Apex or Rust in covid era with my 4790, 16GB RAM and R7 360 with 30fps target lol Yeah I had fps drop sometime but again, it still playable lol 4. Agree! FB marketplace is still a great place to find 2nd / used stuff. As long as we use common senses and be careful. Also yeah FB's groups are great to get even better prices. 5. That $200 and $250 used PC are great! They are good bargains for building a gaming PC. 6. That 2060 is cheap AF. I would never found that bargain in my country lol 7. The SSD also a bargain. I never use Thermaltake PSU, maybe I should research more about them because the prices are not bad. In the end you managed to build a cheap 30FPS and also 60FPS gaming system! Great job!

The only thing I would add is that instead of comparing the price of the used hardware to the retail price in order to see if its a "good deal", you should be comparing it to the averaged used price instead. If you find a 2060 on fb marketplace for $130 for example, you shouldnt assume its a good deal just because retail is $200. You should check how much the card averages when used and then determine if its a deal or not. If theres plenty of used supply for the same price you find on the marketplace then its not a good deal, its just an average deal. If you see people selling a gpu for $150 on the used market, you should be aiming to get one for $110-120, etc. How do you check the average used price? Ebay sold listings, you can also browse through recently sold items on the subreddits mentioned in the video.

Wish you were still making a lot of videos, only recently found you. Nonetheless, you’re super helpful, will use these tips in the future, and hope everything is well KZbin aside. Side note: thought it might be a good thing to note that using that gigantic monitor would tax the gpu a lil bit more than say a 24/27 inch monitor that most people would have resulting in better fps lol.

And willing to walk away from deals you don't agree with is crazy hard and sometime it pay off, like last week I was able to nab 6700xt for 163 dollar. As much as this video is really useful and will probably help some people who are quite clueless about where to start - was shouting out the absolute scum over at Userbenchmark really necessary? Pretty much any community somewhat serious and enthusiastic about computers has them banned for very good reasons. I also feel like neither of those Haswell deals was particularly good for the money. But I appreciate you shwing the process.
