Don't forget, you should never close your washer's door immediately after using it because it will grow mold. You should leave it open until it has had time to dry, and the same goes for the slider you put the detergent in. Let both dry over night.

Something that can be helpful for eating on your bed - get a tray with the legs that fold under! I've found them at thrift stores or Ross - great for holding study supplies, crafts as well! And when you're done - a quick wipe and fold the legs! Then tuck on a narrow space (I'm at my daughter's while my Granny Flat is being constructed - and so glad I brought one along! Actually ice cubes work with blood and of course chewing gum… one thing I didn’t notice is the use of an iron- especially in the summer ( seems counterproductive with the summer heat )when most clothing is lighter with cotton and linen etc. I find I need to iron these especially a tailored white shirt and also pants especially if they have a crease or cuffs it makes a huge difference plus dryers don’t prevent 100% of wrinkles!

Here are a few things that may or may not work for you: -for folding, I like to military roll all my shirts and sort by white, black, and all other colours into bins with dividers. It may stretch things out tho so ymmv -my mom mentioned also sorting by texture to prevent smooth things from pilling from fluffy things, so this can help if you need to make your loads smaller for your washing machine size -I do my laundry cycles whilst I also do the rest of my chores, so I put the first load in then do a lil surface clean, a vacuum, and take out the garbage -if you struggle a bit, done > perfect. Girl, your laundry routine is so extra. LOL 😂 I don’t separate my towels and bedsheets from my clothes. I only separate all fabric items by color and they still come out sanitized and clean. Saving water is important, so running less loads is good. I don’t even separate my baby’s clothes from the adult clothes and they come out clean, stain-free and no baby skin irritation. For washing ALL t-shirts,especially graphic shirts or any clothes with embroidery/prints, I ALWAYS turn every shirt inside out to maintain its integrity. P.S. Clean your lint traps people! Unless you want to start a 🔥.

I think separating thr towels and bedding depends on your washer/dryer size. Mine is a similar size to hers. I wouldn't be able to my towels and bedding with my clothes. Sometimes towels maybe but definitely not bedding
@annalouise94142 жыл бұрын
I do separate mine - not to be extra but for hygienic reasons. I wash my clothes at 30-40 degrees celcius, bedding+towels at 60 degrees celcius and cloths at 90 degrees celcius. Anything under 60 degrees doesn't kill off bacteria...

Why would anyone separate baby clothes from adult clothes? I always washed them together, but I don’t use scented detergents, so it was fine. If you’re using heavy scents, then I guess that would make sense. Best to just use a good baby detergent on everything, so you don’t have to worry about baby getting a reaction from being in their clothes/bedding/towels or against your clothes/bedding/towels.

Wait, 1 hour for an average wash cycle ? I only have 2 or 4 hours, and I need to wash my sheets and my husband clothes 4 hours (or else it does not wash properly because of his sweat) 😕 so jealous! I try to reduce the amount of cycles so I mix together most of the items by temperature needs, so I do not have empty machines, to reduce time and water usage. I wash together sheets+towels+any item that washes at 60°C and clothes at 30 or 40°C, I separate only the dark clothes that could potentially stain lighter fabric. If there is super dirty items I was them separately or rince by hand first. Dish detergent works very well on any oil or bike grease stains I agree ! Thanks for the tips, that is nice to see other ways !

laundry us something I still have to call my mom with questions for. I remember always asking my mom to teach me growing up but it was just cheaper to do everyone's laundry in shared batches so I never did do my own laundry until college. Most of my clothes are black so i didn't need to sort my colors, and I usually need clothes to shrink so i'm fine with hot water, but it also costs more and i've been told it makes clothes not last as long. Now almost 30 I'm finally gonna be on my own, no family members or roommates to share loads with, so I finally have full control of my laundry. but I also put off doing chores a lot. not that I hate doing it, idk if it's depression or maybe everyone was right that I have ADHD and it's ADHD Paralysis, or what. but I always find myself doing my laundry once EVERYTHING is dirty with a full basket(and floor.) so this video is just what I need

Just a tip, you could put some vinegar in your washing machine where the liquid fabric softener goes. I’ve been doing that for years. It deodorizes and softens clothes (so your clothes will have less wrinkles while air drying). I’ll also sprinkle a little BORAX in my wash, too, especially with my husband’s laundry, because he works outside all day and his clothes need extra TLC. I don’t use fabric softener, but I never have wrinkled clothes. This is a life saver for those like me who refuse to iron anything, lol! I still use detergent, but the way, the Borax and vinegar are just helpful natural boosters for cleaning laundry.
@bryce4395 Жыл бұрын
just regular vinegar? do you mind sharing the percentage? i wanna try this so bad but I'm scared of ruining clothes lol
@ginay4662 Жыл бұрын
@bryce4395, sure! I just fill up the “fabric softener” spot to the top with vinegar and omit the fabric softener liquid. If your washer doesn’t have a spot for fabric softener, you could probably add 1/2 a cup to a cup of a vinegar to a full load. I’ve never had any clothes ruin from this, and I’ve been doing laundry for many years, however, you can test it on a load of towels first, if you want to see how it works for you!

Additional Questions: 1. How do you remove sweat/pit stains? 2. If you are not adding scent boosters or softeners, how do you make your clothes smell fresh? - i have many dogs and it seems that these boosters really counter the smell. Hopefully you see this and can help out! 🙏🏻
@Ypsilion2 жыл бұрын
Sorry for jumping in, just giving 5 cents. 1. For the sweat/pit stains, I soak my clothes like she did at 4:45 and they come off no problem (light/white clothes) 2. I have heard using white vinegar on your laundry load helps remove any funky odors and keep the clothes fresh and scent-free. It seems they don't have a vinegary smell after either. Some people say their pet hair also sticks less with that method, but don't quite me on that. It is a method I haven't tried yet.

For sweat/pit stains, especially on white clothes… DO LAUNDRY IMMEDIATELY. I waited 2 weeks to wash my white top, and even though I let it soak in Starboost for 6 hours, then Oxiclean white revive for a few more hours, then stain treated with Oxi max boost stain remover and kept wet for another 24 hours, then washed with my laundry on gentle cycle with sport detergent and Oxiclean white revive powder added…. the yellow stains persist. If you’re going to wear light colors/white/etc that show sweat stains and dirt etc…. either commit to having one large load of whites or never buy white clothes again lol. My problem is I have mostly darks/colors and like 2-3 white items. Also white sports clothes/bras/leggings are from hell. If you do get white make sure they’re all the same bright shade of white that you can bleach. I’ve learned my lesson…

Before putting clothes in my hamper, I always sort, turn inside out etx so that i dont waste time to put clothes in the washer. I simultaneously start my day, do other things around the house ( there is always something to do 😅) and then when everything is done, immediately fold and put it away. Things ive learnt from my mom: zip up all the zippers before washing. Use the sun to dry if you can . Fold your clothes when warm from the dryer, or if you don't have time, then at least lay all the clothes flat stacked on top of each other - it will not he creased. Use the ikea octopus for hanging socks and small stuff - saves space on the rack and you can keep all the socks together:)
@dropslemon Жыл бұрын
love this. I also use mesh bags to keep from losing my socks! also for socks, I actually don't even fold most of my socks. all of my identical socks just get flattened and laid on top of each other, so I can just grab the top two out of a stack and go. Patterned ones do get folded together, but the majority of my socks are holdovers from a job with a dress code requiring black socks, so I kept the same ones and made it easy for me!

The reason to separate clothing into whites, (lights too if you want), brights, and darks is not only because of potential bleeding, but because the lint transfer between clothes of different colors will tint the clothes' color over time, or even sometimes pretty immediately.

I love this video! All great tips and all so practical. It's going to be a game-changer for, because I'm not a fan of doing laundry.
