I showed this to my four-year-old daughter, who just received a pink violin as a gift from her grandfather. She was totally blown away and when the video ended, she said to me, "I want to be a rockstar with my violin, too."

Bach - Chaconne As the story goes, Bach wrote it in memory of his first wife, after he returned from a trip to discover that she had died. Bach described it as "On one stave, for a small instrument, the man writes a whole world of the deepest thoughts and most powerful feelings."
@michelr6576 жыл бұрын
yes, part of the Chaconne in d minor is there (last mvt of the partita in d minor for solo violin) but the beginning is the allemande (1st mvt) ...she's a great improvisor and Bach would have loved this as he too was a great improvisor. And yes you are right on about the Chaconne being written in mourning from the death of his wife and in her memory

@Maya Schmidt have a treat and listen to the chaconne (last part of the patita in d minor by Bach) by Hillary hahn or Lana trotovsek...... - also a kick ass transcription played by Mariam Batsashvil for piano by Bach/Busoni: Chaconne in D minor BWV 1004 - i - Live concert HD mariam is so in the zone that at the end she seems possed and needs to wake up

I've played violin for 13 years (I'm 19) and I have to say, she's pretty damn good. And even if you do argue that she's an "alright" violinist, her performance is fantastic and 80% of playing an instrument is giving a great performance while playing
@ginny300113 жыл бұрын

Yes. Yes it's very obvious to anyone that knows about a decent amount about the violin that she's shifting without the video. The first time I heard this song on the CD I knew she was shifting. Technique is what MAKES performance and sound. Thanks, you clearly showed off how much you know about music. Love, A Music Major

She can be any or all. Artists are almost always outliers from the norm. It’s a difficult life. I attended two Emilie Autumn shows many years ago. She only picked up her violin for a few notes on one of those two shows. Still, I could tell by the audience reaction - by those who knew more about her than I at the time - to even that brief move that Emilie Autumn had chops which she was, fir the moment, keeping up wraps. Those were two stellar shows, by the way. Her story is inspiration and her courage life-saving… “One foot/Then the other foot . . . “ Keep going! Keep moving! Keep fighting (just like a girl) no matter who you are, where you are, or what who're going through!!

You might have known this, but EA actually did the strings for the Metalocalypse episode "Fat Kid at the Dethharmonic" the opening scene of that ep was Dethklok unloading a bunch of feral cats on an island they called "The Isle of Wayward Kitties" which is a direct nod to EA's book "The Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls"

Long, long ago I saw a violinist named Malcolm Watson play at our state’s outdoor music festival. He played Paginini barefoot and dancing on a sheepskin rug spread on the grass. We were all within two to five yards from this virtuoso. Watson was chatty, friendly and amazing! I imagine that the lovely and facile Emilie Autumn would find a kindred soul! All the best to artists who put their hearts into music and art!!
