Dirty Diana was a band groupie wreaking havoc. The Smooth Criminal video was inspired by the "Girl Hunt Ballet" scene from the 1953 film "The Band Wagon". Michael Jackson was a huge fan of Fred Astaire. The song itself is about a woman being attached in her apartment by a smooth criminal. It was allegedly inspired by a true crime that Michael read about. The name Annie comes from the training mannequin used for teaching CPR as it was rumored he took a that training around the time he wrote the song. Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, Prince, Freddy Mercury - most charismatic entertainers ever. 💜

Steve Stevens on guitar is bad ass! MJ is definitely the G.O.A.T! MJ wrote a number of songs about girls who chased him or his brothers. Billie Jean was a similar type of song to this one. "Smooth Criminal" is just a story about a girl attacked and killed in her apartment by a Smooth Criminal. Some think that the song was devised simply from CPR related situations. Annie is the name of the CPR doll used to perform & practice CPR on and he mentioned, "Annie are you okay", which is what you are supposed to say to someone when you come across someone down on the ground. You shake them and say, "Are you okay"? Hard to say but you never know where one finds inspiration...lol CHECK OUT MJ's remake of "Come Together" by the Beatles. He does a fantastic job on that song.

This is my favorite MJ song. The subject matter isn't really my thing but you feel his every word when he sings it. The musicianship is definitely on point. Steve Stevens gives one of his best performances on guitar and really completes the song like no other could. Great reaction Krizz!

Funny story about this song. Michael was in London to do a concert and he met the Royal family. Princess Diana was excited to meet him and asked if was going to sing this song. Michael said no, he took it out of the concert because the Royals would be at the concert and he didn't v want to offend anyone. Princess Diana asked him to please sing the song. Diana Ross was already a star when they met. They and their groups were both members of Motown. They became close when they both starred in the movie adaptation of the Broadway musical, THE WIZ.

The album is titled Bad and was the only thing I wanted for Christmas in 1987. Dirty Diana ended up being my mom's favorite by MJ. The whole album is fire. I also remember when Thriller came out. While I do love that album as well, 'Bad' is my favorite and I stll have the cassette tape.

Then lighters lit, different obviously as saw overseas allegedly screaming overwhelmed his performance. Back in Birmingham NEC saw with my friend, Janet Jackson, amongst others. Shows under £50 imo, affordable yet now. Forget it, b ills worry me more. Imo.
