I have listened to so many monitors at the DJ store, hs8 was very fatiguing at 1.5 distance from equil triangle. The krk has coloured ~150hz but use that EQ on the back and drop it by 2 or 4db and you have an almost genelec sound. Very impressed how my mixes translate since upgrading from the eris5xt. I have since used soundid and there's no turning back now, krk all the way.

Ive used the KRK g4, Adam t series, and now most recently the Hs8. Without a doubt the winner is Yamaha. 1. Hs8 2. Krk 3. Adams Hs8 are so good its like cheating its just so musically correct idk how else to word it. Krks are great but sound very... not there like the sound doesnt touch your soul at any point. Great to mix on tho actually quite great. Adams are terrible, opposite of hs8. They are musically incorrect. Everything is out of place and the high end is way too bright. Most ear fatiguing speaker I've ever owned. I can go on but my leasy favorite thing about the adams is how much bass blows out the rear port. You can hear the bass bouncing off the back wall even when you properly place your speakers with a pretty treated room. Hs8 without a doubt is the true premium experience its exactly what you want

On the KRK with its more advanced visual EQ you could easily EQ the bass to be similar to the Yamaha. Yamaha is very limited as far as adjustments go, with volume, room control and treble presets. If the new KRK models still have the "black goo" issue, though, they should be avoided like the plague. Over time, a manufacturing material they use will thin out, spread onto the circuit board, and increase the noise floor.
@SoundsInTheDeepStudio
@SoundsInTheDeepStudio 4 жыл бұрын
I think Yamaha has a better definition on the hi mid/hi range, I feel Krk has something missing on higher mids overall. The bass is def more punchy on Rokits but I noticed that they tend to have some kind of "rumble" most of the times, on the other side, Hs8's has a more linear response on bass/lo mids even tho are less pronounced than Krk's.
@sergeysmelnik
@sergeysmelnik 4 жыл бұрын
You cant judge the bass in these videos, youre hearing the room. Both have very linear bass. Look at the graphs they look almost identical because the room has such a huge effect on response.
@SoundsInTheDeepStudio
@SoundsInTheDeepStudio 4 жыл бұрын
@@sergeysmelnik To be honest, you can't scientifically judge what speaker is better or you eventually prefer because of mic frequency response, you're headphones frequency response, then your ears, and then the room. It's not only about the bass, it's about anything you hear on the spectrum, however, I didn't notice any "boomy" effects on other comparisons such as hs8 Vs tannoy gold 8, hs8 Vs Eris 8 xt or even hs8 Vs focals alpha 80. Maybe it was for mic positioning, maybe for the room etc Of course you should not make a decision to buy a speaker purely based on this video, or others. But at any case, if you follow this channel, you can estimate how his room sounds, more or less, and you can take an average of all the speakers he tried, and in this room, krk's sounded a bit boomy where Yamaha's did not.

your track will sound more full if you mix on a monitor where mid highs are missing.
@SoundsInTheDeepStudio
@SoundsInTheDeepStudio 4 жыл бұрын
@@piotr9914 That's not how it works. The question you should ask yourself is: which monitor is the best for my taste? Other than that, as the video shows, any monitor has it's own balance, if you're workflow is set to trying to compensate for what a single monitor lacks, then you don't know what mixing and mastering means, and your songs are going to suck. If I buy yamaha, and I start to scoop things around because they sound bright and crispy, then my mix gonna sound dark and muddy, if you boost stuff on a scooped monitor, you're gonna sound harsh like hell. The idea is to know how your speakers sounds like, which means that if your favourite songs sound scooped on the mids, or bright, then that's the sound of your monitor and you should base your mix around that reference.
@piotr9914
@piotr9914 4 жыл бұрын
@@SoundsInTheDeepStudio remember: it's not always wise to assume that you know better than someone else. Whatever you said right there, i can agree with mostly. I find KRK's best for EDM because it doens't have the same problems that T7V's and yamahas sometimes run into when all the frequency spectrums are filled when the mix is on full with limiter pushing the mix to the limit. Most audio engineers dont recommend mixing with a limiter on but on rokits i found it to work even better than mixing without the mastering plug ins. Rokits really can handle super loud and full mixes without issues. So anywyas, I was on the same page with you when you said which monitors sound the best all depends on taste. Mid high is known for boosting presence and a sense of the elements at that range being "upfront". One thing you might disagree with is that, I do think KRK are very versatile. If a monitor can handle EDM, it can handle most other genres. I can't say the same for T7V because the low mids almost had no information when the whole mix was running on that monitors. Some of myy instruments on my mixdowns that's done on the T7V were off by as much as 6dbs and I couldn't even tell. Rokits aren't perfect but my mixdowns were only off by 1dbs in the hats because they did have a boost on the tweeters. I can't guaranteed Yamahas can perform as well as the KRKs in EDM but I suppose it is extremely versatile as well. I can't guarantee that you can mix with a limiter on the master bus with the yamahas though.

The speakers u can find with this are great construction. In the end, with my eris E5 i equalized the bass to +4Db because the sound flat is'nt funny to listen. so if u want to enjoy the music and movies, don't need a flat sound, u need a 3 ways to get powerful bass but a clear mid-high range. BUT while you have those speakers out anyway it would be really important for me that i could also get an impression of the level of static noise the speakers are emitting. I have read a bunch of reviews and on some more affordable speakers, people are very frustrated about the amount of hiss the speakers have, wich is much higher than what they would have liked to have. I had the HS8's once and found that to be their only real weakness. It's not crazy on them but when i upgraded to some older Gen's they also had some hiss, but it's noticeably less. And if i ever where to shop for other monitors i would want to make sure that they have even less hiss. I just dislike it that much!

Having HS8, and to my surprise both boxes do not differ that much tonally. Regarding balance - the upper mids of HS do seemingly provide little bit of the perceived detail, as they bite bit more, whether that is always a good thing is a question. Transient wise both monitors do perform similarly, where sometimes KRK provide bit more punch, they lack the detail, and vice versa. The difference is subtle, and I believe also preferential, as I could choose one monitor over the other the other day. Yamaha has tighter low end, KRK's sound deeper, and still clear. The detail, separation and image provided by both contenders sound to me quite similar, with HS8 slightly better in couple of cases, but again - it varies with the material. Both monitors do perform great, I would have a hard time to choose if I had to decide between the two. Having Yamaha HS8 I am surprised how great the KRK's perform next to them, in this test. Given their extensive room / eq modes and front port design, I'd say KRK's may be less problematic in smaller or worse acoustic spaces, as both 8inch monitors demand proper treatment in particular, where Yammies have limited options in that regard, + being rear ported in addition to that, with the recommended placement of 1,5m from the wall.

the v4 s4 dont compare to the hs5s. Theyre higher end but dont play as deep. The hs5s compare to the rp5g4s. I would take the v4s4s and and rp5s over hs5s. Much better less harsh tweeter and warmer overall sound.

I think the rokits give a more pleasant listening experience but are definitely not flat, the yamahas are far more neutral for mixing etc. while rokits may be misleading. That being said "Howling" sounds beautiful on the hs8s

Rockets by a hair. Heard both side by side at Guitar Center and preferred the Rockets (Before entering the store wanted to get the HS8). The Rockets changed my mind quickly. The sales person hooked up both from a cell phone music list. For Hip Hop the rockets are clearly better. The bass is tight and booming (imo no sub is required). For female vocals and classical music the HS8 is better but not significantly. My prefered genre is 80s and 90s music -- the Rockets sounded clearer with a larger soundstage. At the end of the day listen to them at your local Guitar Center. Plus the customization and cell phone app are a big benefit as well as the built in isolation pads are BIG benefits over the HS8.
