The Space Jockey from the first film wasn’t fossilized, just well preserved. Fossilization requires complete burial of the object and over years mineral rich water slowly replaces the bones and leaves essentially a cast of the bone while the organic matter decomposes. The empty cast is then filled in by sediment.

It needs to be pointed out once again that the majority of this Engineer 'lore' is taken from one script, the Draft 17 or Orange script, which has been proven conclusively to be a fanfiction fake written by Prometheus fan Mark McAllister. Mark himself has taken credit for writing it, but Kroft has apparently taken no notice. The notion that the Engineers worshipped the Deacon, that they were trying to recreate its blood, that there was a lengthy deleted speech from the Engineer all about Jesus, the long deleted opening dialogue - these are ALL fanfiction, taken from Mark McAllister's fan script, and Mark deserves credit for coming up with them.

Have you considered the scenario that the engineers tried to resolve their inability to procreate by trying to find the genes responsible for genitalia/sex/gender? Consider how similar a xenomorph is to a penis, facehugger to a vulva and ovamorph to a female egg - Its almost as if these genes or bodyparts have been taken out of their original context and mutated into actual living creatures.

It is not clear exactly what form of drive the Juggernaut ship uses for interstellar travel, considering the end of Prometheus it is shown flying off the planet's atmosphere very rapidly rather than just creating a bright flash & disappearing.

Aliens as a story is a mess. It's a scattering of ideas etc, all Wayland-centric. Ridley Scott hasn't helped; Alien was perfect as Gladiator, after that it's downhill. The black goo was a plot device clearly stolen from the X-Files if anyone remembers that show. The goo that transforms humans into an alien which incubates inside a host. The Xenomorph was a great idea, except when we started to see how fast it grew - gestation cycle to post-birth, including the one Shaw gave birth to. Then there's Romulus, where they couldn't let 'Big Chap' die in the vacuum of space.. with more black goo, that somehow came from this survivor with the idea that humans aren't designed for interstellar travel. Having the Engineers as 'ascended' into a multi-verse was a plot device stolen from the StarGate TV franchise. The franchise needs to fix things. Start with a competitor to Wayland who's slightly ahead of the game and is now after Rain and Andy after they leave Romulus. They can add Predators lurking as well in stealth mode, observing the events. The franchise needs to evolve beyond the formula of egg or pod+host=xeno. We get it and it's now predictable.. start fresh with a competing company with their own androids and a controllable Xeno they engineered, with their logo imprinted on the Xeno's dome. The antagonist could be the Predators, or the Engineers who aren't neutered - they're not in anther dimension etc, they're also in stealth and likewise observing developments and about to intervene as the rival company is about to create something impressive and lethal; they'd done the same and realized it was too far.

@@slang1517 I understand your opinion. The universe is fundamentally more interesting with Predators, than without them. They add an interesting alternative to just the Engineers and humans. As a plot point, Star Trek, Star Wars, StarGate etc.. they all had more than one protagonists and antagonists with fine balancing point of what mostly works for them and not always for us, from time to time. They also withhold information that might mean humans would be able to benefit from them. Ultimately if the universe was just humans and Xenos with a light touch of Engineers, then the story would run out of steam. It's already out of steam now. Wayland can't be the only company engaged in this research and it isn't. The story of Engineers is so botched and xenos so formula based, if it didn't steal from XFiles for the goo andStarGate for 'ascended' ancients.. there's be nothing new. Thanks for your comment.

@@ozmozis6073 predator and alien are two very different franchises with different tones and atmosphere. Avp started as a joke, when someone decided to put an alien skull in predator 2. I loved the avp games, but adding predators to alien makes as much sense as adding terminators or the thing.

@@slang1517 I agree with you. That said, it could be argued that the black goo from XFiles and the Engineers 'Ascending' from StarGate are also from other universes. Stories throughout time have borrowed without credit and Aliens is getting stale. It needs more antagonists and protagonists, in the form of Predators and or, a serious competitor to Wayland brought from the background to foreground. There's noting to spice things up, other than the tired formula of egg+host=xeno on a ship, space station, prison planet and planet. I watched the original Alien and loved Aliens - there's a limit to that theme. Even the yo-yo of Terminator became stale, as Skynet shunted models in time to kill one guy.. StarTrek mixed things up with the Klingon, Borg, a little with Romulans - Voyager brought new themes. The Alien franchise is a mess and stale like Star Wars. Predators adds a twist to the superiority of the Engineers as does a rival to Wayland. The black goo is annoying and Engineers as 'Ascended' or neutered and devolved is poor writing. I find it concerning that it's most probable. We will understand the aspects of the beginnings of life. We are hard at work. Trying to insure Mars can use itself. To produce the things we have here at home. It's hard to explain easy to understand if you understand plants. Simple multi, cellular life forms and complex multi. Cellular life forms. The aspects of our lives. Are these things lives are tied very close to? The constant cycling of chemicals giving birth to the chemicals that we know though it is possible for Mars to make It's own Well, we'll call it a great many things.

Whoah. Waaaaay too much speculation. Like Shaw taking up religion because the Engineers weren't our gods? She was *already religious!* There was no change in her faith at any point. And the beings on Planet 4? They're obviously not Engineers. I know Scott's been inconsistent in his descriptions, but there's what he said and there's what makes sense. By calling Planet 4 a "colony" he isn't saying it's a colony of Engineers... it's just a colony. Probably created the same way human life/culture/etc. was. Humans don't spend a ton making these movies just to screw up a detail like that. Yes, they're wearing old robes similar to those of the Engineers' at the start of Prometheus, but what's weird about that? Humans wear old robes and cloaks, and we certainly aren't Engineers. Aboard the Juggernaut, the Engineer's suit doesn't denote any special purpose. Wearing an environment suit doesn't mean he's a scientist. It just means he's wearing a suit. Then there's David being able to read the Engineer's writing: *It was cuneiform!* He'd already learned everything he needed to know during the Prometheus's journey to read it (Sumerian, Akkadian, Hittite, and who knows what else). There was nothing special about that knowledge. Yeah. I love your takes, but this one... not so much. Too much lore taken from comics, too much reliance on conflicting interviews, and way too much guessing. This comment would be a book if I covered everything suspect.

Why should calling something "religious" imply anything other than fiction? There are in fact thousands if not millions of interpretations of many different religious mythologies and many of them directly contradict others so that means most if not all are liley fiction. I think all of them have elements of the truth, but not a single one has the entirety of it. Even if you are the most right, you are still partially wrong. I like science because they acknowledge that they don't know everything.
