I think planet 4 is just an outpost for engineers, something like a stop over for any military activities between worlds they’ve created. Their home world must have been more technologically advanced than that of planet 4.

Pretty much everyone of these deleted alternate scenes would have enhanced the film, it wouldn't fix all the problems but it definitely would have helped. Also, the engineer storyline was far more interesting than just shoehorning in another xenomorph. I really wish studios would stop sticking their noses in

I think this planet had exactly what they intended. Humans mutated and evolved into an abomination. The engineer knew what he had to do the moment he saw David. Lots of reasons for that logic. Artificial beings are incredibly dangerous in my opinion. Humans as destructive as we are, created synthetics in our own image. Why? Even if it’s not genocidal why create something exactly like your self without any of the weaknesses and potentially immortal? It may still respect and choose not to crush you but it would know immediately we are like an insect to it. You could make a list about why it’s not a good idea and his people probably knew that from experience and it’s forbidden.

Ridley Scott is a burned out has been. He has done NOTHING good in the last 2 decades. He either hired or ripped of the idea and script for Alien and then James Cameron carried him. If you want proof just look what he did with the last projects.

I can see why they cut it. It was risky, and too similar to religious cliches. This version is still better, though. They opted for vagueness and mystery, but a creature willling to die for the sake of creation WOULD be a zealot.

I love the comments about how they should have gave us more and the script did. And don't get me wrong, I agree with them. But if they had, we wouldn't be here right now, looking for answers to the questions we had. Number two rule of entertainment. Always leave them wanting more. So glad this silly speech was cut. The Alien series began with an enigmatic alien of terrible design. Alien 2 is an action movie with a humbling premise, that humans are prey. And now... this? Grand speeches and lazy worldbuilding? We don't need to understand the Engineers to fear them.
