Badly written, full of characters who act illogically and based on a lot of psuedo-religious "oh that explains the Crucifixion" nonsense. A supremely advanced civilization that hits the gym, creates life and then destroys it with bags of black goo? Seems to me is that Ridley Scott effed up enormously promethius was a good movie far better that Covenant or the one after it. Missed opportunity I think.

Why would those people be excited about a 2000 year old space ship arriving. They would of never seen it before. Unless the engineers dont upgrade their ships for thousands of years.

I believe engineer are hermaphrodites...but have regressed sexual characteristics. They are male and female. Engineers reproduce by seeding worlds with their DNA. Or they are cloned ...and clones only last so long. Their reproduction cycle consists of millions of years of evolution. Some guidance is offered. The children will be killed off if they disappoint. The engineers cannot have children any other way. The idea is to hope their children evolve to engineer level intelligence and biology after much time. When the world is ready (evolved to be as much like engineers as they can).... they drop face huggers. Any currently pregnant women....are brought to the engineer vessel and die giving birth to engineers. The whole rest of the planet dies. You will be left with thousands or millions of new engineers.....fully grown in ten minutes lol. WHat I do not understand..... is why the engineers could not create a woman with a uterus strong enough to birth an engineer without dying. Maybe they experimented on their women with the goo and killed them all. A dying race will do anything to stay alive.

A necromancer was stolen and rewired to be a mother to six humans..... and to go to new eden the planet. WHile on the planet we can see engineer looking beings that have devolved. We find an ancient sentient robot called grandmother. Their are strange skeletons on the ground. The radioactivity/nanites is high and kills 5 of the 6 children. There is an entity on the planet. I believe it was an AI that became a hybrid organic....and lives in the core. I believe it became the planet. It directs and manipulates to be able to impregnate a robot. This is another failed engineer reproduction planet. I think the engineers gooed them as another failed offspring. It is interesting.... I really wanted it to show more about the history of new eden.

Regarding 14:25, aren't those two different planets? Prometheus is LV-223, and Nostromo is LV-426. So how come the alternative script, in which the Engineer is already impregnated, connects to the original 1979 movie?

It's hard to introduce a new main character in a franchise but Engineers was the best part of all the Alien sequels.

We do know that the "Deacons" created by humans being infected by the pant spores ended up having red human like blood because Oram shoots it and kills it but it is confusing since they look like the first deacon but don't have the liquid metal looking blood that the first engineer drank reconstructing hiis DNA with Earth or Paradise's molecular make up. Each movie or story is a cycle or continuation of infection or mutation rebirth yet Covenant is a deconstruction of the of origins of humanoid life itself, it's overgrasp of technology in bioengineering and AI robotics resulting in God complex ideologies that can never be recreated without self sacrifice.

I thought David destroyed an Engineer seeded planet, not an engineer colony. The "engineers" that are destroyed are thinner and shorter than engineers but larger than humans. They're not wearing engineer biomechanical suits, and they look toward the engineer ship with reverence and longing, as if children awaiting the return of a beloved father. I don't see engineers, but rather a more successful offspring than humans turned out to be. Thus, the utter surprise when they realized they were being cleansed from their planet. They thought they were in good standing with their creators. Edit: The idea that they're not engineers is further made clear by the fact that David uses the coordinates of the last place the engineer ship was prior to the events of Prometheus. The ship takes David not to the engineer homeworld of Paradise, but to a seeded planet. The inhabitants look pleasantly surprised to see his ship return before death is unleashed.
