Kroger Clicklist Review - Never using this service again

Krogers Clicklist system never processed my grocery order but they did manage to process the money. Pay first is a terrible system and they need to go back to the original setup. The local Kroger store will not help you. I think the total lack of help is what pisses me off. A glitch occurs and nobody on the local level can do shit about it.

I attempted to Clicklist myself today. Set up my appointment window as I'm busier than a three legged cat at a dog show. Welp, they missed my window by about three hours with a delay as they have no employees to actually pick the order. Partially my fault as I don't answer strange phone numbers on my cell phone and voicemail is useless. So, I'm sitting in the Clicklist lane on the phone with the number on the sign when I find out my order is three hours (at least?) delayed. I'm left with three options at this point. (1) Cancel order and have no food and money for 3-4 days as there's a hold on my available funds for near $300 and waste an evening after work to reshop in store later in the week, (2) Wait for next day to pick up delivery and not help or visit elderly relatives with chores, or (3) Miss a school function that my children worked hard for me to attend as I have to drive back there and unload all of that stuff and put it all away by myself without help from the spouse or children. So here I am bitching too, bored on the internet and waiting another hour in my dead quiet living room. They say they'll compensate but I'd rather had my groceries two hours ago instead of unloading it in the dark. I had to pick option 3. Save time my ass, I've got time now as I had to miss/cancel my attendance at a competition.

Update 12-2019 - I decided to give the service another attempt, but not much has changed. The service might be good if you don't care about what items you get or at all ie: canceled/delayed pickups or out of stock items. If you're someone who rely's on their grocery's to cook that day etc, its totally unreliable. They called me after my pickup window had started to let me know they were really behind and they wouldn't get to my order. I was already on my way and they hadn't even started yet. Funny thing is, I received the confirmation emails stating everything was good to go. I guess it's like McDonalds drive thru when they can't keep up. They just tap the computer to say your order is done, then tell you to pull up and they'll bring it out. They offered me $10 for my trouble, told me I could get my groceries the next day but I declined. Canceled my order. I'm finding many Cincinnati area stores struggle with the grocery pickup service but so far Kroger has been the worst.

I know you have your experience but their practice to charge you when you order. Something obviously out of the norm happened. When I order, my card is authorized for the amount in my order. The site states that the charges do not occur until your receipt is given to you and you have your items. Very often the total is somewhat different due to items by weight etc. There is a manager at the store that enters in the orders and bills them after they are picked up. I love Clicklist. Never an issue and my card is never charged first. Only authorized.

Authorized or charged it doesn't matter when your funds are tied up for a week. The funds become inaccessible once they "authorize it." They don't give you the groceries and they offered no help, I mean nothing. The bank will only tell you the funds will be released after Kroger drops it off or processes it. In which I would of had to seek a refund. So my point was that they used to not "authorize" your card until you picked up. Now they do it right away on the site and their website obviously glitched because the store never received the order. People should know it's a possibility due to that change. Technology is only good when it works, and in my case it didn't work. Hopefully everyone else has better luck.

I have had this problem as well, just today. I also got excuses and called different numbers and bank and what not.

I know glitches happen and nothing is perfect but when nobody at the store can help you, it's no longer convenient. This service is suppose to be about helping people save time, you know convenience. There is nothing convenient about paying a hundred bucks to a store that can't even sort out their f-up in a timely manner.

I just used the service today and though it was convenient they wouldn't take the coupons that I brought with me because my card had already been charged.

My problem is that for whatever reason, my order changes to where I'm missing items I know I paid for, and have extra items I know I didn't order, but they still show up on the receipt so it looks like I'm just crazy when I know for a fact I ordered and paid for certain items I didn't get.

Happens to me every single time. All they keep doing is referring me to the receipt, which only shows that they only charged me for the items they took off of the shelves. Then they act as is that's the amount I ordered initially when I know for a fact I ordered more/less. I've even asked for a copy of the list they use to pull my order off the shelves that shows how many of each they need to pull but I've yet to be able to get a copy. They keep referring me to the receipt as if that's some sort of proof of how many I ordered. Take today, I ordered multiples of 6 different items and receive singles for every single item. All they can do is point at the receipt and show me I was only charged for 1. Fine. That still doesn't answer the question of whether or not your "pick list" had the correct quantity to begin with. It would definitely show that they weren't doing their job if the pick list states the correct amount of items yet they still only pull 1 instead of 3...or their favorite move, to give me 7 of a product and charge for all of them. I don't need 7 laundry detergents. Wtf. I ordered 1! Lmfao

Sorry that happened to you. You can always call 1800-KROGER to get stuff like that straightened out right away.

I was afraid of something like this. I had an order ready to go & didn't end up submitting it. I hate that you have to pay first & that they only will take debit or credit. It also seems like the selection is limited online and some items are not in correct categories, making it take longer to navigate the site. It also pops up too many unrelated items in search and you can't look at the packaging or ingredients. I was going to try Walmart's grocery pickup instead, but it seems just as jacked up. I was so excited for these new services and now I am just disappointed with a major headache.

You do not have to pay first. They only authorize your card. I can't tell you how much we love using it. It save me not only time but money because I can see my running total and I don't impulse buy. I just show up, they load my car, review any out of stocks or substitutions (if you allowed them) and leave. It saves me about 100.00 a month shopping this way and also about 10 hours a month. I am sorry you had a headache with it. I hope you try it and like it...Eventually this will be standard practice anyway. Which will drop grocery prices because of increased competition. Our Kroger's does about 100 Clicklist pickups every day and it's only getting more popular every month. I do agree with you on the ingredients. I gave them feedback on their site. You can't zoom in and they are not listed.

So you're saying no one at the store or corporate level did anything about this? Having a hard time believing they just said "sorry" and kept your money. There's more to this story.

Elise Bach what I'm saying is that the grocery order didn't go through but they still charged the card. The transaction stayed in limbo making the funds in my account unavailable. Their solution was that I could go back home reorder and repay for my items. I was told the first transaction would time out after a week and the funds would be returned. So to summarize, I would have had to order again pay again, and eventually the other funds would be returned. Wait and see was not an acceptable solution to me. Problems occur and that is understandable but the lack of support at the local level was sad. I just want eveyone to know the service is great when it works but its not perfect. The whole idea of this type of pick up system is convenience and this was not convenient.
