This weekend was one of the most challenging weekends I've had in a very long time. We encounter multiple recovery situations due to deep snow, camp in below freezing temperatures, and explore the northern region of Idaho. This is an overlanding trip I will not forget.

I live in northern Japan, and the snow here gets ridiculous. There's a overlander here that has his Delica kitted out nice. The guy even put a snow plow on it. It's crazy seeing him plow through the mountains on his way to camp.

To drive in deep snow , in eastern Canada we drive on narrower tires and no less than 32psi snow is not like mud or sand and with narrower tirés you do not float and you do not cut True à large track and the traction is better

WOW spoiled with all that heating gear! I did a winter night camp where a buddy of mine thought a Tee Pee would work in -35c (-31F) with a fire being the only heat source, which totally sucked as it all went up and through the top. We made it out alright in our arctic sleeping bags, though I've had better nights with better set ups. Nice off roading and recovery though! That diesel heater is tempting. Sweet Ram as well, I really like the tent!

Love this episode Edward! You released this video right after I got back from a snow trip of my own. I’m going to have to pick up one of those diesel heaters! One thing I’ve learned from snow wheeling a few days ago is that I’m convinced I’m just going to chain up right at the start in deep snow. I have these auto ratcheting chains that are easy to put on, about 3 minutes on / off. I’m 15 minutes into your episode, so not sure if you will use chains on this video, but I highly recommend them. Take care Edward! Hope to get the chance to hang again one day!

Ed, we all go alone sometimes and it is not ideal and this weekend I found that out in the Cherokee National forest doing a section of the Smoky Mountain 1000. No cell service so I had no weather radar or forcast (which changed after I went in and I had no idea) and things got interesting on day 2. A high wind warning was issued for the high elevation areas which I picked up on NWS radio in Chattanooga. I was out there and committed to finishing the section however, I got caught out in a wind driven storm on top of a ridge. It got so dark I had to turn on my light bar to see. It scared me but I am home and it made me think hard about what happened. No, I didn't finish the section but I will in the spring.
