This is slightly misleading. Although she is responsible, legally, she did not crash into anyone. The police crashed. They should have definitely abandoned the chase and followed her with a helicopter.

If you commit a crime and anyone dies, even if a cop shoots your crime partner or misses and hits a bystander, you're getting charged with Felony Murder. There are numerous stories of police shooting one suspect and charging the other with FM, which strikes me as something rather open to abuse.
@Chrissimpson-oo4qx4 ай бұрын
I disagree once they start showing they're going to drive in the wrong way you have to continue to chase because you see too many high-speed chases in certain areas just because the police lights off doesn't mean the suspects going to slow down they may have already got it in their mind they're going to get caught so they're going to just keep driving crazy until they either crash or the vehicle won't go anymore.

I don't understand this whole thing of stopping a pursuit of a wrong way driver... if she would run into anyone at that point then they would blame the police once again for not pursuing. This is her fault, plain and simple, lets not blame someone else for her dipstick driving. She deserves more punishment than she will ever receive.

@@callyourhitsss you are 100% incorrect. If you’re basing your grand theory on the dash cam for the semi truck, you are not basing it on full information. The wreck occurred behind the car that was being pursued. After the wreck occurred, the suspect car continued on the wrong side of the highway at a higher rate of speed before crashing. When the crash occurred with the police vehicles, they were still in active pursuit. Multiple witness statements support this. Do your research before you try to call people out erroneously.

When I was younger I often wondered why people didn’t just dodge a wrong way driver, then it happened to me and a friend of mine who was driving. We were on a highway that had two lanes heading north and two lanes heading south. We were heading northbound, in the right lane and driving the speed limit, and all of a sudden I saw a car up ahead that looked like it was coming at us but I couldn’t exactly tell... I remember thinking - surely not... but it was. The rest of it happened within a matter of a couple seconds. By the time the car came into focus, it was past us. The driver was driving southbound in the left lane of northbound traffic and had no idea anything was wrong. It happened within a blink of an eye. I immediately called 911 and so had many others. I believe everything was ok because I never heard anymore about it. It was TERRIFYING and I was glad not to be driving because my legs were shaking so badly that I think I would’ve had to pull over awhile. I’ve never questioned this scenario again.

3 years after the trial is over and she is rotting away in prison, she should be reminded that she would be leaving prison had she stopped and only been convicted of the stolen vehicle. Instead, she gets to watch herself grow old on the mirror of a shared prison bathroom until she dies. Police believed they were chasing a suspect that was holding a woman hostage and threatening to kill her. She should be treated just as bad as someone who takes another hostage, she isn’t a victim. Police risked their lives in an attempt to save hers. Her actions lead to police thinking the fleeing car was more than a stolen vehicle.

It's idiotic to 'call off the chase' - the wrong way driver will just continue to drive the wrong way, and eventually will kill someone. And it will **STILL** be the fault of the department in whose jurisdiction the chase(s) took place. When it comes to a wrong way driver on the highway they've got NO CHOICE WHATSOEVER. All they can do is try to follow, and just wait for the inevitable... which WILL happen because oncoming drivers will see a fleet of flashing lights coming in the opposite lanes and will look THERE, **NOT** at the car coming right at them in their lane. This is a NO WIN situation for law enforcement - unless they're willing to intentionally ram the other vehicle any way possible, which comes with a whole host of other problems.

The truth here is that the cops are the people who put lives in danger. 1 car speeding down the wrong side of the road is dangerous. But having other vehicles (cops) also speeding down the wrong side made it almost impossible for anyone to avoid a collision. The cops should also be charged with murder. They are law enforcement and swear to serve and PROTECT. And driving down a freeway at 90+ MPH the wrong way is irresponsible and irrational. The cops could have chased her from the proper side of the road while she drove on the wrong side. This is what boggles my mind. Did they really think they would make it better or be able to catch her more easily doing what she was doing. Obviously not. The cops had no regard for the safety of hundreds of people and should be fired and criminally charged and sued.
