@marvinjgerald60073 жыл бұрын
Nope, not reasonably expected at such high rate of speeds. 1st, out on an interstate people are already trying to stay focused on their own driving sphere surroundings. But then out of the cleat blue sky all of a sudden you have vehicles race up behind you from around a curve and or over a hill. So yea it takes time to assess where you’re going to safely pull over to or just stay put or slow down and impede even more. 2nd, on even smaller and slower roadways with lots of traffic, well 100+ mph police vehicles simply have their work cut out for them because the onus is not on the normal flow of traffic civilians. That’s why it’s recommended to terminate a dangerous high speed chase once a substantial direct line of sight is lost. But hotheaded police continue to break their on policies.

Like you say, these chases can and do sometimes end very badly so your statement should read: "we owe a debt of gratitude to our officers who risk *everybody's* lives in these chases"... During any pursuit, both motorists and pedestrians can easily be killed.. In some cases, people in their own houses, sitting on their recliner or children playing in their yard can become victims of a fleeing suspect or pursuing lawman going out of control and crashing... In this particular pursuit, look how easily an unsuspecting person walking into a store could have been struck and killed right from the get go as the suspect vehicle rounded one of those turns at over 50mph... I'm not harping on or condemning the police, I want these rubbish humans who flee from the pigs to be caught just as much as the officers themselves but sometimes is it really worth it in the end? Pursuits always have an unknown ending and while they are exciting to watch, listen to, and participate in, is the risk really worth it in most cases? Like here in this Franklin County sheriff chase: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y2TEfZp5eq54d7c

5:30 White VW SUV: Why does that officer have to pass me on the shoulder? Both of the lanes to my right are wide open. The suspect took ‘em. Why can’t he? ME: You’re hogging the passing lane. Those other two lanes are where YOU belong, fool. You’re passing NO ONE. Move to the Right….and STAY there! Where can I get the bumper sticker: IF YOU CAN’T DRIVE, DON’T! It’s a pet peeve of mine and I deal (not well) with it everyday. Someone sitting in the PASSING lane, holding up several cars behind them. And they ARE NOT moving over, no matter what. And others that are breaking the speed limit by, say, 10+ mph over, but don’t want me to break it at 15+ miles over. “Get TF Over”. (Add that to my previously requested bumper snicker 🤪)

Cops really need to start giving tickets to people for not giving up the left lane. I was in Germany recently and NOBODY passes on the right...they pull up one inch behind people in the left lane Werth their left blinker on...and the idiots move over. It's a much safer way to drive. Not to mention that it's officially illegal to pass on the right..but since everyone is a left lane hogger it's necessary.
