Just seen the bit about the car park at the end of the woods. I came along a couple of days after you and totally cleared all the rubbish. 3 full bin liners! Loads of drinks containers and hundreds of little poly bags, possibly the refuse from the drug doses and curiously dozens of small gas canisters. Same boats parked there as when I went through. Keep up the good work, like your videos. Sorry to have missed you.

Well done. The gas canisters are nitrous oxide (laughing gas). I spot them all over the place! Don't know about the bags?

You are a hero to be clearing the detritus of folk with such low personal esteem as to leave this rubbish ..very sad for them...all the more kind and decent that you should clear it all away.

Looks like the Trust or managing agency needs to do a bit of tree and brush removal in some areas there. However, I can assume their resources, personnel, equipment and budgets, are probably stretched to the limit. We always appreciate your videos, as there isn't quite the same canal system thing here in the states. It just seems like every other person here has some sort of RV or camper, but it's just not the same. Safe travels!

I enjoy all your videos and can’t understand why anyone would give a thumbs down. There are quite a few narrow boat/canal tubers now and I only follow three or four. It is something I would have done had I been a bit younger and had some money but for now I derive lots of pleasure from viewing videos like yours. Happy boating.

Thank you. It baffles me too about the dislikes? There are many millions of videos on youtube, you'd think they would just move on and look for something that they did like? Fortunately there are many more likes than dislikes so I'm not too worried. :-)

Don't worry about it. Some idiots just take pleasure in bashing other people's achievements, and this channel is some achievement. Frankly, I think they might be jealous or simply very insecure. Anyway, I and many others greatly enjoy what you do. Keep it up, and good luck with the rest of your wonderful journey. I particularly love the sound of your engine as you putter along. Can I ask, does it need regular maintenance and if so, do you do it all yourself?
@NarrowboatJourneys

Thank you. I do little maintenance to my engine - let sleeping dogs lie. I do make sure there's enough diesel and oil. It's air cooled and quite noisy down the other end which is why I can't talk whilst driving. There's also a lot of vibration.

I've found the reason for some of the channel dislikes. Apparently I'm a "chav of the waterways, begging for handouts"!

@@NarrowboatJourneys I wouldn't call it begging,more of a plea.

Nice video thanks Phill, how do you get on if you want to vote while living on a boat? I see your on 3000 subs now well done, are you still enjoying making your videos?

Thank you. I can't vote. I did look into registering to vote as you are supposed to be able to do so if you don't have a fixed address. But the form asks you to give "an address where you spend most of your time". So that was the end of that!

I wonder if I might ask some silly perhaps obvious questions. At about 7:57 minutes along you pass a boat bearing a large "SLOW" notice, and then some very large robust looking containers on the roof, looking all the world like those stainless steel transit cases used by engineers. How on earth does that boat pass under any bridges. Doesn't the CRT move this boat along?? That brings me to the phrase you glibly use..."Long term mooring". I took this to mean some private mooring place where one pays rent, like a marina, and thereby receives the assets of electricity and water and access to a car park and or other facilities such as waste disposal etc. But many you show seem to be just at the end of a farmer's field. How do these folk, refuel, obtain water, or other facilities. These are pretty poor long term mooring places aren't they? ... I've not asked these before..I apologise if they are commonplace questions. ... Finally..."How on Earth?"...or perhaps batter put, "Why on Earth" do people put thumbs down ? Certainly without saying why... Onward mariner. I hope this late message funds you well ..I'm just reviewing your adventures on a wet Saturday evening...thank you for these films...they are better viewing than all the 97 other satellite channels at my disposal. And look good on a very big screen.

On the south Oxford canal many of the bridges are very low. In other areas they can be much higher so they would get away with all that on the roof. They are allowed 14 days at that spot. Long term towpath moorings are very expensive. My boat would cost about £1,500 a year (depending on the area), plus the licence. They charge moorings per metre. Many sites do not have any facilities for boaters so you may have to cruise for hours to get water etc. Really you are just paying for permission to stop there without harassment from the CRT! Moorings with facilities are even more expensive. I don't know why people bother to dislike videos when it is so easy to find stuff that they do like, why bother?
