x x For a while, I actually thought he was being type-cast, in a way, since he was in several YA adaptations and continued to play teen characters, even though he's now in his 20s. (I remember seeing him on Ellen for Love, Simon promo and he said that he thought he was done playing teens until he fell in love with the script for Simon, joking that now he's "finally out of high school". Hope that's true!) At least a film like this sort of gets him out of that bubble. Though, I did listen to an episode of the ID1OT podcast with Nick's Krystal co-star Grant Gustin, who said this film was actually filmed about 2 years back (back after his show The Flash wrapped S2, I think, or maybe before it went into production), so it really predates Love, Simon production-wise, even if it's coming out afterwards. And it makes sense, considering he had longer hair in Everything, Everything, so this was probably filmed sometime before that. So, now my original comment on the video is kind of irrelevant if he chose to star in this so long ago. I'm still optimistic about the future of his career. I agree with you that he is a fantastic actor - I think it's a little early in his career to talk about winning an Oscar, but it certainly could happen, given the right role! - and he does deserve to let his talent shine. I see a bright future ahead of him.
