The puppy pads are a life saver! If the dog is trained to potty on the paper. The papers have a scent on them to attract the pup. Then, when they have to go outside and you are not there to open the door, they piddle on the puppy pads! Right now we are dealing with an elderly dog. The puppy pads are a life saver. He doesn't want to go out in the rain, etc., but will use the puppy paper by the door. I even have a jingle bell on a ribbon, attached to the door and he knows to ring it to go outside. So, the papers have been a life saver for the last few years. Again, I love you two to death.

Really, pups are usually weaned at 8 weeks and able to leave mom. So our vet would have us supplement them with warm PET milk ( evaporated milk) and an egg yoke. They still need milk, but not cow milk from the store. ❤😊

Kevin is using a mix of puppy biscuits soaked with goats milk - their mum really likes it, too! - But yes the supplementing with the milk mix to provide the stuff theiy are missing - or mama doesnt have enough

One of the best dogs I ever had was a Boxer/ Boston Terrier cross that the lady made me bring home at just 4 weeks old! The bond we had was so wonderful and she was so easily trained! She was my beloved fur baby for 141/2 yrs til she got cancer! Growing up we had a pit that was a great farm guardian..he watched for anything that didn't belong on our 110 acres while our collie watched over our dairy herd! Pits make very good dogs when they have good humans!
@heatherd.93906 ай бұрын
I couldn't agree with you more as far as Pits being great dogs. It's the crappy humans that mistreat them that make them aggressive. It actually goes against everything they were bred to be. They are great protectors, but that is because they are alert and athletic, not because they are dangerous. When raised properly (as with anything), they are love-bugs.
@cynthiamulholland29766 ай бұрын
Just so you know guys it's natural for a goat with triplets or quads to wean them earlier than a single or doubles because it's a much bigger strain on their bodies!!! They know when their bodies need to replenish in order to be healthy!!! Blue is naturally going to wean earlier this time & it's ok!!! The babies are already eating grain & hay so they'll do great!!! Love Y'all & all the Doss Family & God Bless!!!❤❤❤❤

Typically a puppy isn’t taken from the mom until at least 8 to 10 weeks here in the US. It’s atypical for a pup to be taken from the mom so early. This isn’t common here either.

@@nancy-katharynmcgraw2669plus mama had a huge litter and they were more than she could feed properly. I agree the puppy is too young under normal circumstances, but this was not normal circumstances and an urgent decision needed to be made by the owners. And who better to trust with such a young pup than Kyle and Shannon. As long as he still gets milk (I believe it’s goats milk), he should be fine. He will be loved and spoiled.

The new little Guy is adorable. He's going to be a Big Guy judging by the size of his paws. I rescued a Pit/Catahoula/Boxer mix who was also away from his mom too soon. He was supplemented with puppy formula for a while at that point when he was in foster before I got him at 5 months old. One Big thing I can recommend to you is to try to figure out a way to teach him bite inhibition. If he goes to nibble on your hands too much yelp loudly to startle him so that he knows to back off. His mama would have taught him this but he's not going to have that benefit. Unfortunately my guy never learned that from his mama or while he was in foster and as a result I have a 14 month old 65 lb big boy who still is very "mouthy" with me especially if he's tired. He's getting a little bit better about it but its still a challenge. If you can try to address that now it will help you a lot later. Having a big young dog that sometimes doesn't know the difference between your hand and a toy can be painful! You're very right about the nipping thing. Mine does the Pit nipping/nibbling thing as what seems like a way of soothing him when he's overtired/anxious. A blanket and a chew bone or antler helps a lot with that. You guys will do well caring for that pup. Just do lots of research on best way to care for puppies that are weaned too early and be mindful of the fact that his immune system is still very much at risk at this age and you'll be fine. He's a lucky pup to be with you two.

I’ve had Pits for 15yrs or a little longer and they can be mouthy so watch for that. It’s not in a mean way in my experiences. Also they can be aggressive when playing so set good ground rules . The head shake I have found is a Pittie thing as well. They are very loyal and will protect you with everything they have. They need jobs and live to please. That is why so many are exploited with fighting. Little man is beyond adorable and I’m so happy to see that you weren’t turned off by him being part Pittie🥰🥰🥰

My adult grandson had a blue pit mix. He took training classes with him. The best thing I learned was to not play tug of war with the dog as it enforces aggression, which we didn’t ever want. He was the sweetest, most loyal dog . Also, we put the puppy pads in front of the door, with a bell hanging from the doorknob. He learned to ring the bell to go out.

I agree on all points. I didn't quite catch his age in the last video but wow... that wouldn't fly over here in Germany - unless it was an emergeny of some sorts, maybe. I got looked at with disdain because I brought my dog, who's now almost 12-years old, home at barely 7-weeks old - and that was only because the whole litter of 8 was being attacked by mom (one bitten dead, nd my girl injured) and the owners had absolutely no room to keep them seperated long term (accidental litter), so they needed to find homes asap.

New puppy "Thor" is so precious. When it comes to training, work on the growling. The aggressive growling can be a problem for you later as he grows. Guardian dogs will growling but with training, they learn that growling is for protecting your farm from preditors and your other family animals will be safe❤ I think since you named Hercules, Thor would be fitting for a little brother 😊

I felt so bad for him I invited him on my closed in patio and call police sometimes they know where they belong especially on habitual runners. He called our local dog catcher and I posted on our Little towns community page where he was. He was the sweetest dog ever after my adult grandson went inside I don't think he cared for the officer either till he got down and talk in a low voice next to him. A friend of mine found a puppy near her work and brought it to me. It was a pitt. I had 3 kids, youngest was 2 1/2 yo. Some of the neighbors thought I was nuts to keep him. He became our yard dog as we had a marsh behind the house. (lived in Mississippi at the time) Kept snakes and other wildlife out of our yard. He was so great with all the neighborhood kids and visitors. Pitt pups are very trainable, but I suggest socializing him as much as possible. Ours would alert to strangers but with a word, he knew to relax.

My Cocker Spaniel is 9 years old now and was trained as a pup to use puppy pads. She has never gone outside. The advantage is that I never have to let her outside in the morning or middle of the night. She has never gotten into a scuffle with neighbor dogs while outside. The disadvantage is that I had to find a cheaper pad for her and I spend about $100 to $125 per year for potty pads. Your little Houligan is such a tough guy. So adorable.
