Nice box, and would work great in dry weather with the covers open.I have looked at these. But electric mostly go's out in storms which most times with heavy rain. With these open rain would blow into this box. I like the design of the Stromberg Carlson Box, but again it's not wide enough to install a 4500-5000 watt inverted generator needed to run most AC's, microwave etc. with less overload. I think I'm going to buy a standard 24'x24'x24' alum.water proof box with front lid. Heat resistance sound insulation inside and install vents like covered dryer vents or house eve vents where it makes it hard for rain to enter, along with a waterproof 12v fan. and extend the exhaust outside the box. So rain or shine it's useable 24/7 with my rv toy hauler.

I ran this box open in the rain with no problems. I know a lot of folks who run their generators in the rain with no cover at all. While I don't recommend that, my generator didn't mind a little rain in the box. But the box build you are talking about should be really nice!

Thanks for making this video. I was sold on it until you showed me the bottom screw and nuts that can be removed so you can remove the cover and service the generator. Am I missing something or is this not a theft-proof box when you can easily unscrew and remove the top. Can you clarify? Thanks.

It is true you can unscrew the box and remove it which is great for servicing the generator but not great for security. There is enough room in the box though that you could rig something so it could not be removed unless you could open the lid first. I haven't done that as the thief would have to have proper tools on hand at the time of the theft. A box like this isn't going to stop a well prepared thief. Things like this only keep honest people honest.

Just so you know I have had many cargo trailers . Just the weight of the generator on the tongue will break the frame over time. If you dont beef it up considerably its gonna be bad. Predator 3500 is the latest generator ive had sheer the frame off.

I had the whole front of the trailer redone when I lengthened the tongue. I’m confident it will hold.

you’d have to make sure the cable doesn’t fall out of the outlet going down the road but it’s possible.

does your generator have the carbon monoxide safety on it and not go off?

I have never had the generator shut off due to the CO safety when it is in the generator box with the panels removed. I did test the unit by blocking the exhaust opening and it shut off as it should.

I just got a quote from them back today. They Quoted me $470.00 for the Box. Plus shipping and handling. So I don’t know the whole total for me. They said the Quote is good for 14 days
