I miss the RGV of 90s. He was so beyond the times, broke so many stereotypes, brought so many changes to the Indian movies across industries in the shot making, cinematography, use of score, the subtlety, etc. He was the first one to bring steadicam to India. So many of the current generation directors including Rajamouli credit RGV for making them want to become a director. RGV truly is an iconoclast, a person with an extremely unique outlook on life/direction (his interviews show that.

But rajamouli and the producer taking such huge risk and changing Indian film history forever is something. Bahubali not only changed telugu cinema forever but Indian cinema, all industries. It gave courage for all filmmakers to not just dream big but huge. So yes, bahubali is the game changer of telugu cinema, infact Indian cinema.

I had recommended this movie several times on Twitter... finally you watched it! Glad that you enjoyed it and thought it was a good idea for a watchalong 😊 And finallyyyyyy you've been introduced to Venkatesh. Such a good actor. Also zaddy IMO lol. So far you had only seen him in like 1 trailer and some songs. Currently he's the star of the Netflix series Rana Naidu, remake of the US series Ray Donovan. You might enjoy this. He plays an antihero (at best)/villainous protagonist. It's very irreverent. His nephew Rana Daggupatti (whom you know as the evil brother of Baahubali senior) plays his son and co protagonist. And Abhishek Banerjee is in it and gives a great performance! 🙂 it's been renewed for a 2nd season.

This is probablyp the best movie of RGV.Sridevi as usual looks like an angel even in 2-3 costumes in whole movie.Her character in this movie resembles totally to her real life character.Venkatesh apart from being dashing,rocks in such a subtle performance.Not over the top,no heroic dialogues or buildups so unlike for a Telugu superstar! Not to forget the paresh rawal performance.This movie apart from being a thriller,is laced with subtle humour here and there.Overall this movie is a total "Gold" as rick says!!!

RGV had a genius mind back then wonder why he burned out in 2000s. There is another movie if his (a short film) called Shock. He had the concept of a factory model of making movies one after the other like an assembly like with movies coming one after the other..Shock was one from that..

For your next Telugu watchalongs... my Kshana Kshanam recommendation was good so please consider these ones too 😁 MARYADA RAMANNA directed by SS Rajamouli, a remake of Buster Keaton'S Our Hospitality. It's a unique movie in SSR's filmo. Mostly a dark comedy/romance. VIKRAMARKUDU also by SSR. Basically my fav masala ever. His most underrated movie IMO. Very original plot. Also unique in his filmo because the protagonist is a morally ambiguous antihero. SIMHADRI also by SSR, it was his 2nd movie. It's a more traditional masala but quite good. You reacted to a fight scene. FIDAA one of my fav romcom, with Sai Pallavi. PARUGU another very good romcom, with Allu Arjun. AGENT SAI SRINIVAS ATHREYA a great thriller/dark comedy. It's not accidental that most of RGV's films, whether one likes or not, are unique in his own way. This particular film was an utter flop when it was released and became a cult almost a decade later. Most biased reviewers credit Satya, Kaun to Anurag and Manoj and undeservingly discredit RGV. By the time of Satya, RGV has proven himself with some of the best screenplays across multiple genres (action/thriller/romcom/roadmovies ...). From Satya, RGV went into production mode, and pooled in lot of young talent (Writers/Directors/DOPs/Costume designers). Even though I get entertained by Anurag's movies most of his films have shallow characterizations lacking emotional depths without any underlying subtext often covered up by good writing and screenplay. While Anurag plays to his core strengths (writing/screenplay), RGV gets bored of repeating the same thing again and that's why his films are hits sometimes but misses most times. But that's how a maverick always is and one can never find a more passionate filmmaker than RGV in Indian cinema.
