This album was super inconsistent but I do really like KSI for several reasons: I think he has a lot of variety in his music which is a breath of fresh air. He seems to improve a lot, and I think that his next album will be even better. I do think that he has some great songs, especially patience, even tho he also has some bad tracks. Tbh he’s better than polo g and I def agree that both of his albums are better than clb, in fact they wipe clb that album was so bad. I think ppl need to take KSI more seriously, in a few years I think he will be great as long as he keeps improving

I applaud KSI's persistence and work ethic but whenever I hear him rap, I can't help but feel like he's a bit heavy-handed. He's not a smooth, effortlessly cool MC-it feels like every single bar he spits is at the very top end of his ability level, like a 1988 Ford Escort doing everything it possibly can to hit and stay at 70 mph on the highway. Where other, more naturally gifted MCs, are able to relax at a much higher quality output level and actually self-actualize through their craft. I just can't help but feel like KSI is still Mr. Struggle (yes I'm quoting Girl Defined) when it comes to music. I respect him for it, no doubt, but he's definitely not a naturally gifted MC. He's busting his ass for every inch of musical quality. "Down Like That" is as close as we've seen KSI get to actually achieving that musical "flow state" and even on that track, his bars and his delivery are clunky and obtuse.

I didn’t actually listen to the entire album when it came out because I heard “No Time” was decent and assumed the rest sucked. By chance I heard “Madness” yesterday and it was actually quite good. I was getting tired of No Time’s hook and actually rate Madness above it. I then listened to the rest of the album and I’m actually pleasantly surprised. What the fuck? Madness, Silly, No Time, Gang Gang, Don’t Play, Holiday, Sleeping w/Enemy and No Pressure bro. All solid tracks, with the rest being mid/listenable. It’s insane to me that on a KSI album, the big feature tracks with 21 Savage, Future, Polo G were the mid ones. I originally thought Fantano gave Jj a better score than Dissimulation because he liked the guy. But then actually, now I find myself disagreeing with the score a little bit. I’d give it strong 5 very light 6. Very much pleasantly surprised. No Pressure and Madness are my favorite tracks from AOTP

Yeah, Jj having occasionally questionable bars and most of his stuff being very poppy/surface-level are my only two gripes I've had with his music in general but I think now that this album has hit #1 and he doesn't need to prove too much he'll probably won't try and farm streams and will try and make more personal music. Maybe next time he won't be really obsessed with being a genie. Would have given him a slightly higher rating though.
